Copperopolis, CA...Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Sgt. Bob Fienberg and six other Sheriff Volunteers (Lt. Ed Anderson, Lyle Bradt, Sgt. Ralph Carlascio, Louis Chiu, Ed Evans and Pat Toepel) provided traffic control during the Veteran’s Day Parade in Copperopolis on Veteran’s Day. These Sheriff Volunteers, many of whom are veterans themselves, take pride in honoring the veterans for their service and sacrifice to this beautiful nation. San Andreas, Calif. – Many callers to 9-1-1 assume that call takers who answer their call will automatically know their location. This is not always the case––especially with cell phones. “In a recent consumer survey we found that over two-thirds of respondents believe that 9-1-1 knows their location when they call from a cell phone,” said Public Safety Communications Assistant Director Karen Wong. “However, this is a public misperception and our pilot program will help us guide communications to convey the importance of knowing your location when calling 9-1-1.” ...

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that David P. Eggerton has been hired as the new general manager of the District. His first day on the job will be December 1. “I’ve known Dave professionally for two years, and he’s a stand-up guy,” said CCWD Board President Scott Ratterman. “Everything I’ve heard about him has been exemplary. He’s a very upbeat, positive and capable person. I think he will be an awesome fit for our District.” Selecting Eggerton from a group of more than 30 qualified candidates was no small task....

Valley Springs, CA....Norman Eugene Baccus 1929 - 2014 passed away at his home on October 28th, 2014. He was born in Corning, Arkansas to Charlie & Iva Pearline Means Baccus. He served in the US Army in 1946 and was Stationed in Santa Barbara. He worked for over 40 years in the baking industry and then worked with his son-in-law in construction until his late 70's. He loved the outdoors and water skiing, riding horses, motorcycles & camping. Additional details about his full life are enclosed...

San Andreas, CA...Every year Mark Twain Medical Center opens it's doors to the area's future Doctors and Nursers for a Teddy Bear Picnic. This year 475 kindergarteners from across the county visited the Medical Center in late October. In addition to Doctors, Nurses and staff at MTMC they invite paramedics, fire fighters and others involved emergency as well as normal healthcare. On the day we stopped by the CHP Helicopter was on hand to provide information on their operations which include at times air medical transport. CHP Pilot Jim Hendrix did a great job fielding questions from his young audience. We have a few photos of the event below and a short video of the CHP Helicopter coming in to land....
