Mokelumne Hill, CA...Tickets are still available for Conversation with a Tramp: An Evening with John Muir, February 6, 7:00 p.m., at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall. At this fundraising event for Foothill Conservancy, acclaimed actor Lee Stetson will be performing as the famous naturalist John Muir. Stetson is considered an expert on Muir, and has portrayed the historical figure in countless venues around the country. Stetson also portrayed Muir in Ken Burn’s award-winning series National Parks – America’s Best Idea....

Calaveras County, CA...Dear Editor, I was very pleased to see the refinished billboard for Marine Lance Cpl Gavin R. Brummund. I had attempted to contact the wonderful gentleman who put it up. I wanted to do a fundraiser for a new one. Every time I drove by the faded one,it made me sad. I would still like to contribute towards the new one. As a Gold Star family, anything we can do to honor our service men and women, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, we support. Thank you to the gentleman who did this. Now I smile and salute him every time I drive by.

San Andreas, CA...This unique fundraising event, a collaboration between the Calaveras Arts Council and the local Soroptimist club, runs from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the San Andreas Town Hall. The evening will feature art, music, a no-host bar, buffet dinner catered by the Pickle Patch, fabulous raffle baskets and other items. Julie Youngblood will host rousing rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs, a real crowd pleaser in the past. Terry Weatherby, our 2015 auctioneer, will bring fun, humor and help bidders to take home the perfect chair!

Would you be interested in volunteering some time, working along with University of California staff to accomplish this goal? Would your school like to have an after-school 4-H club?

The Agency is recruiting drivers to assist with delivering Meals-on-Wheels to our homebound clients, and for the Silver Streak Transportation Program, which provides transports to those over the age of 60 to medical, dental, and other medical related appointments... |
