CCWD Holds The Line On Rate Increases |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors voted unanimously Wednesday March 25 to postpone a rate increase scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2015. This decision will keep monthly water rates at $56.78 and sewer rates at $86.16 instead of increasing rates to $61.89 and $90 per month respectively. The Board reached its decision after reviewing reports from staff that pushed back the planning and construction timelines of several projects that are part of the District’s Capital Renovation and Replacement (R&R) program. All of the revenue generated by rate increases in 2013 and 2014 is reserved exclusively for the Capital R&R program....

Valley Springs, CA...On 3/29/2015 at approximately 1805 hours, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 300 block of Paloma Road, in Valley Springs, for a report of a male subject being attacked by two men with baseball bats. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a 59 year old male who was covered in blood from an apparent head injury. Medical personal tended to the victim’s injuries and requested an air ambulance to transport the victim to a valley hospital... |

Valley Springs, CA...Angela Kay Lombardo passed away on March 17 in San Andreas. She was born on October 10th in Indiana. She was a homemaker and had lived the last 12 years in Valley Springs. San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 6th Annual Health Fair and Lupus Fun/Run Walk on Saturday, March 28th from 8am until noon at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Over forty community health related service groups will participate in this community-wide event. A wealth of information will be available on topics such as senior health services, health insurance, nutrition, and fitness. Low cost testing and services include Blood Analysis ($45), and Bone Density Screenings ($10). In addition to the five-panel blood analysis (this test consists of a chemistry panel, thyroid, complete blood count, lipid panel, iron for women, and PSA for men), the Medical Center will also now screen for vitamin D deficiencies....
