Fires Caused By Negligence In Marijuana Gardens! $1,408,664 In Suppression Costs

San Andreas, CA...Fire investigators from the CAL FIRE Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit have determined that negligent use of equipment and improperly installed electrical systems on marijuana cultivation sites have caused several fires in the past few weeks.

Beth Childs/Genna Hurst Scholarship Awarded by Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF)

San Andreas, CA...The Beth E. Childs/ Genna Hurst Renewable Scholarship administered by the Calaveras Community Foundation was presented during the Awards night at Calaveras High School in early June. The 2016 scholarship committee selected Kelly Baird as the recipient. Kelly, an ambitious young woman with a 4.306 GPA, is the daughter of proud parents, Hope and Richard Baird of West Point. Kelly will attend UC Berkeley where she will enroll as a undeclared Social Science major. Kelly has varied interests one of which is history. As stated in her application, “College is a place where I plan to explore, grow and learn. I want to make a difference in the world, and help people by helping them understand themselves.”

Valley Springs, CA...Last night there was a major injury collision near Baldwin Street. According to CHP a white F250 Ford rear ended a semi. Hope everyone makes a speedy recovery.

Supervisor Run Off Candidates Speak

San Andreas, CA...District One supervisor candidates for the run off election in November were guests on local Public Access Television (PATV) Taxpayer Alert! The two 30 minute programs feature Supervisor Cliff Edson and former Supervisor Gary Tofanelli. The primary election votes were very close. Edson previously won the seat from Tofanelli in a 2012 election. Both are successful businessmen and neither attacked the other in the interviews, but focused on what they would do if elected.

Valley Springs Man Arrested For Felony DUI In Major Injury Collision

Valley Springs, CA...A 37 year old Valley Springs man was arrested for felony DUI in a rear end collision that caused major injuries to a Valley Springs couple. The collision happened last night on Hwy 26 near Baldwin Street. The suspect did not see a vehicle stopped in front of him and his utility truck drove a stopped Jeep Cherokee into the back of a stopped semi. Additional detail are enclosed...

Arnold, CA...(Update as of 9:45am Tuesday morning. Thank You!!! As of right now our first show has had 15,368 Views!!) Tonight is the Premier of "The One Percent" it gets its name from the USDA Study that ranked all 3,111 counties in the lower 48 based on the "natural amenities index". The index hopes to be "a measure of the physical characteristics of a county area that enhance the location as a place to live." Calaveras came in as the 14th ranked county in the whole nation. Our neighbors to the south, north and east all ranked high but came in just a bit lower than Calaveras. So if you average our the counties in our coverage area they all score in the top one percent of places to live in the US.

HSC-12 is embarked aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.

Dual County High Speed Pursuit Lands Lodi Man In Jail

Valley Springs, CA...On 06/23/16 at approximately 2250 hours, Calaveras County Deputies observed a motorcycle making unsafe lane changes. The motorcycle was traveling at speeds greater than 75 mph and crossing a double divided highway. Deputies attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on the violations near Pattison Road and South Camanche Parkway, in Burson.
