Valley Springs, CA...If the Board of Supervisors desires, ultimately, not to make the final decision on whether marijuana activities should be allowed in Calaveras County, or at what level, but instead to let the voters decide, then they should consider the following: Having made my living as a trial consultant for nearly 30 years, which includes the science of public opinion research via long-established polling methods, it is important for the results of the polling to be unambiguous. To achieve that result, the question must be unambiguous and it’s best if they require bi-polar responses, responses that are opposite one another, a “yes/no” response, for example. Better yet is if there are two questions, each requiring a bi-polar response and each being polar opposites of each other.

|
Valley Springs, CA...A 54 year old Valley Springs woman had consumed some alcoholic beverages before she started driving eastbound on Hwy 26. She was approaching Hogan Dam Road at a high rate of speed, and as she came to a curve to her left, she continued straight and ran off the south side of the Hwy 26 and through a wire fence and into a grass field. She continued at a high rate of speed, fishtailing out of control. As she made a turn to the left and ran through the fence a second time. She then drove across Hwy 26 where she nearly ran head on into a vehicle traveling westbound before running off the north side of Hwy 26 into another grass field. She continued and made a turn to the right back towards the highway. Jones finally came to a stop when she got stuck in a dirt gutter just north of the roadway edge.

Valley Springs, CA...Firefighters on ground and in air are working a 10 acre vegetation fire in the Oak Hill area. Localized evacuations have been ordered in the neighborhood. Please use caution in the area & more to follow....Update as of 1:40pm...aircraft & crews making progress, evacuations near Butler Lane & Quail Oaks. Update as of 1:53pm...more resources including two additional tankers ordered. Update as of 159pm...fire now at 15-20 acres at last estimate. Update as of 2:25pm...at last report from IC fire now at 25-30 acres and sounds like they are starting to get the upper hand. Update as of 2:37pm...IC has released the tankers that were assigned to this fire from the Holister Air Attack base. Our local tankers are still on the fire but this is a great sign as when the Incident Commander is comfortable releasing tankers then the beginning of the end is in sight for an incident. Update as of 2:50pm....Air Attack has released tanker 82 & 83 loaded to return to Columbia. It was a little unclear on updated acreage estimate...it was either 29 or 49 but typically the total acreages shrink when they complete mapping. PG&E crews have also been requested to start making repairs on the powerlines that are down. Update as of 3:10 pm...confirmed the fire is now at 50 acres and hopefully holding. I know there is still lots of work to be done for the firefighters but Great Job. Update as of 3:52pm....Firefighters have reached 40 percent containment, acreage holding,
