Calaveras County Rotary Clubs Team Up for Santa's Express

San Andreas, CA...The​ 4​ Rotary Clubs of Calaveras County joined together​ this weekend​ to deliver Christmas Dinners to​ ​​those in need who live in Calaveras County. The​se​ Rotary ​Clubs ​raise​d​​ over​ $6,000 to assist the Resource Connection in their​ ​ ​"​Santa’s Express​"​ Christmas Dinner event​, with the Rotary Clubs​ driving and delivering food all throughout Calaveras County for more than 200 families.

Third Indoor Marijuana Grow Seized in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA..On 12/12/2017 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant for an illegal/unregistered indoor marijuana grow in the 6000 block of Hironymous Way, Valley Springs. No subjects were located at the scene during the warrant service. Deputies eradicated 282 marijuana plants in the garage for a total of 200 pounds of marijuana.

Executive Summary of Proposed Mark Twain Health Care District & Dignity Health

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Health Care District (District) and Dignity Health propose to restructure the relationship by which Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) leases its hospital facilities from the District and by which MTMC is governed. The restructuring would establish a new long-term lease between MTMC and the District to: • Maintain the continuity of the health care delivery system in Calaveras County • Ensure community involvement and oversight of the quality of care, medical staff credentialing and privileging, and input on strategic planning and services offered to the community • Enable the District to exchange most of its reversionary interest in MTMC for cash from Dignity Health

Two Local Men Survive Afternoon Plane Crash off of Hogan Dam Road...(Updated)

Valley Springs, CA..Plane Crash – Update 12-15-17...The following is to update information regarding the plane crash that occurred yesterday at a private property air strip located on Hogan Dam Road in Calaveras County. The pilot is identified as Robert Pina (age 72 of Lake Camanche) and the passenger as Richard Campbell (age 75 of Pine Grove). Both subjects were transported by air ambulance yesterday to out of the area hospitals where, as of Friday morning, they are both listed in stable condition. A dog was also on the plane with the two men and the dog was transported by deputies for treatment to a Calaveras County Veterinary Hospital to be evaluated. As of Friday morning, the dog is also in stable condition. Sheriff’s deputies provided overnight security at the crash site on behalf of the National Transportation Safety Board who is conducting the investigation of the crash, as is standard procedure. No further information is available at this time.

In running for this office, I will bring over 25 years of fiscal managment experience and community service to bear on the issues concerning our District. Reasonable cannabis regulation and the consequent public safety issues are at the forefront today. Equally important are quality of life concerns that impact property values, protecting and making the most of our beautiful natural resources.

Paul J. Anderson, 50 from Pine Grove Tragically Lost His Life When Run Over By Work Truck. (Updated)

Valley Springs, CA...On December 11, 2017, at approximately 1310 hours, Anderson was parked at a work site on Lower Lake View Road, north of Lake View Road in Burson. While transferring his trailer's gravel box into the dump bed of his truck, the truck began to roll forward. Anderson ran along side of the truck and attempted to regain control. As he was attempting to climb into the truck, he fell to the ground and was subsequently ran over by the truck. Anderson sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

Suspects Sought in Valley Springs Dollar General Burglary

Valley Springs, CA...On 12-07-17 at approx. 0330 hours deputies responded to the Dollar General store located on Riley Way in Valley Springs for a reported burglary. The store manager had arrived at the business and found the front glass door shattered. Deputies checked the premises and did not locate any suspects on scene.
