Dining Program Returning to Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial Hall on March 8th

San Andreas, CA...Common Ground Senior Services has been providing Congregate Dining Sites in Calaveras and Amador County for over ten years. These meal sites are designed to bring folks together for a hot nutritious meal, along with socialization. Meals are served each Wednesday at the old Burson Fire Station and Thursdays in Valley Springs. Meals were served each Thursday at the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial Hall until May of 2017 when the old hall closed. Now that the Vet's hall is open again the Congregate Dining program will be returning on March 8th. Common Ground would like to thank the Board, Staff and Veterans for allowing our Agency to continue serving these meals now that the new hall is open.

Winter Weather Advisory Prompts Calaveras Transit Route Changes

San Andreas, CA – February 28, 2018 – Adverse weather conditions expected in higher elevations will affect the Calaveras Transit Blue Line. The National Weather Service is indicating blizzard like conditions from the early evening of February 28 until late evening March 3.  Increased levels of snow and up to thirty-eight mile an hour winds are expected in the higher elevations.

Heavy Snow Later This Week...As a "Miracle March" Begins?

Arnold, CA....A series of cold winter storms will bring periods of heavy snow and gusty winds to the foothills and mountains of interior NorCal later this week. Snow may begin as early as Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend. Several feet of snowfall accumulation is expected in the mountains with up to a foot possible across some foothill locations. Portions of the northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, may see accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday. Any planning travel across the foothills or mountains later this week should stay in touch with the latest forecasts.

Snow will begin Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend. Several feet of snowfall accumulation is expected in the mountains with a foot or more across some foothill locations. Portions of the northern Sacramento Valley, including Redding, may see accumulating snow Thursday night and Friday. Calaveras Sheriff's Dept on Fowler Appellate Court Decision

San Andreas, CA...On February 22, 2018, the Third District Court of Appeals reversed the Juvenile Court’s decision regarding the case of the 2013 murder of Leila Fowler and has remanded the case for a new trial. As the Appeals Court decision is not yet final, a new Court date has not yet been set.

"Lucky" Reunited With Owner After Chase

Valley Springs, CA...Last night deputies assisted capturing a loose horse running down Berkesey Drive in Valley Springs. The horse, who we later learned is named Lucky, gave quite a chase. The deputies found a safe place for Lucky to stay before being reunited with her owner.
