Valley Springs, CA.....The entire Snyder family invites you to the 33rd Annual Pow Wow this weekend, May 2-4 at the Snyder Ranch in Valley Springs. With over 200 vendors of Rocks, Gems, Minerals, food, music and more on a working cattle ranch, this annual event has been a huge draw every year! Over the last 30 years the ranch has continued inviting "rockhounds" every May. Expanding to gems, jewelry, silversmithing, fossils, and many more of our earth's treasures. Returning vendors have become more than just "rockhounds:" Their pow wow family has extended to dozens of volunteers who help make every detail go smoothly. Their smiles and dedication make every pow wow a wonderful experience.....

All Aboard For "Train Times" In Valley Springs on Saturday! Video Enclosed |

Valley Springs, CA....The 1st Annual Valley Springs "Train Times" was held ton Saturday at the revitalized Historic Valley Springs Train Depot at Hwy 12 and 26. This event drew quite a crowd throughout the day, guessed at approximately 800-1000 people. There was live music by "The George Haggerty Band", delicious ice cream and food, vendor booths ranging from shoes to trains to art to massage, train displays, and historical presentations were given throughout the day. Railroad and history buffs from throughout the region joined in this community wide event....

Burson, CA...Jeremy Arron Rupe passed away on April 23rd in San Andreas. A native of Modesto, moved to Valley Springs with his family in 2000. His family had just recently moved to Burson. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a sophomore at Calaveras High School and was very well liked. He died of natural causes... |

Valley Springs, CA....Mary Jane Poulk, 72 of Wallace is the name of the deceased that perished at the scene of a motor vehicle accident after striking a tree on Saturday afternoon in Valley Springs. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family. Full CHP release is enclosed... |

Jenny Lind, CA...All three candidates running for District 1 supervisor have accepted invitations for an April 30 forum at the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District Hall. The Candidates Night will feature District 1 hopefuls Kathy Mazzaferro, Zerrall McDaniel and Gary Tofanelli. They are vying for the seat on the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors being vacated by Bill Claudino at the end of his four-year term......

TRAFFIC NEWS....Confirmed Solo Vehicle Roll Over Causes Fatality This Afternoon in Valley Springs |

Valley Springs, CA...CHP is reporting a solo vehicle roll over fatality this afternoon in Valley Springs at Camanche Parkway at Crystal. It looks like a conversion van went off the roadway then rolled over. The driver apparently perished at the scene. We will keep you posted as we know more. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family at this very difficult time. We have not received the name of the deceased as of 11:45pm this evening due to contacting next of kin. We will let you know as soon as we do.

Murphys, CA....Stacy Apley is a cancer survivor, now on her second round of treatment. There has been a website set up for Stacy, www.swingforstacy.com. This website will keep the us all informed on Stacy's progress and also the fundraising efforts our community is involved in to help this family out. Stacy is a lovely woman who is married to a wonderful man and is blessed with three young children. She lives in Murphys with her family. The first fundraiser scheduled to be held is "The Stacy Apley Second Round Cancer Survivor Benefit Golf Tournament" with Dinner and Auction. It will take place on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Greenhorn Creek Golf Course......

Valley Springs, CA...A 45 year old Valley Springs man was arrested for felony DUI causing injury following a collision that caused major injuries to a San Andreas woman and minor injuries to a Valley Springs woman. The subject failed to notice stopped and turning vehicles in front of him and crossed over into oncoming traffic. The CHP release is enclosed... |

Burson, CA...We had the Great pleasure of spending some time chatting with Calaveras County District 1 Supervisor Candidate, Gary Tofanelli, at his lovely home in Valley Springs. In two words Gary is a STEEL MAN! He has spent his entire life in the steel industry. He rose through the ranks to manage a crew of 250 in a Union Steel Company before starting his own steel business16 years ago. He has lived in Calaveras County for almost two decades and has served on the Calaveras County Grand Jury for four terms and has been very active in his community...
