Report on Driveway Slope issue for Calaveras County~From Doug Shinn & Barry Ward |

San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....

Valley Springs, CA...Hwy 26 now has it's very own Calaveras County Ore Cart. This is the latest in the continued efforts of the Chamber of Commerce to mark every entrance into the county with a Beautiful and Iconic Ore Cart. The cart which was built by Angels Sheet Metal and dropped into place yesterday morning still needs to have the finishing touches put in place but all of the "Heavy Lifting" has been done.

Valley Springs, CA...The latest place to eat in Valley Springs opened on Wednesday! This is the sixth restaurant for the Auburn based group that also has the Sonora, Angels Camp, Jackson, Auburn and Loomis stores. It is a beautiful new facility. The new Taco Bell was packed when we stopped by yesterday. One interesting note...

Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it will be opening a branch office in Valley Springs on May 1st, 2008. Due to the rapid Business and Population growth the Chamber has decided to open an office in the Terrace Shopping Center on the corner of Vista Del Lago and Highway 26......

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday was the second in a series of Economic Committee Meetings leading up to a County Wide Economic Summit in late June. A dozen or so Government & Business leaders met again at the County Government Center for over 2 hours planning and prioritizing items to focus on. The Economic Development Dialog has been spearheaded by the Calalaveras....

Parolee Arrested on Drug Charges |

Valley Springs, CA...On April 8, 2008, at approximately 2:15pm, Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Narcotics Team received information that a parolee at large was in the Valley Springs area. Detectives identified the suspect and attempted to contact the parole agent, and the suspect fled on a BMX style bicycle. After a short chase the suspect crashed his bicycle. Hwy 4 Accident Partially Severs Women's Fingers |

| Copperopolis, CA...A single vehicle rollover accident on Hwy 4 over the weekend sent a Stockton Woman to Mark Twain St. Josephs with an injured hand. A 20 year old Stockton resident lost control of her vehicle and it overturned causing the injury. The CHP release is enclosed... |
