Valley Springs, CA...On April 8, 2008, at approximately 2:15pm, Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Narcotics Team received information that a parolee at large was in the Valley Springs area. Detectives identified the suspect and attempted to contact the parole agent, and the suspect fled on a BMX style bicycle. After a short chase the suspect crashed his bicycle. Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital Hosts "Career Day!" ~By John Hamilton Updated with Video

Valley Springs, CA...Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital and many other organizations rolled out the red carpet for the young aspiring Eighth Graders looking ahead to their futures. Friday Morning almost 300 kids streamed through the multi-purpose room at Toyon Middle School. There were booths and information on many different types of jobs to accommodate any skill set. Medical Careers, Management, Law Enforcement even Veterinary were represented. It was even exciting outside when a CHP Helicopter Crew landed one of their helicopters on the ball field and were giving batches of the students tours. A CHP cruiser and even the Calaveras County Sheriff Department's Hummer was in attendance and had the kids fired up to go do a search and rescue mission....

This meeting was informational and a great start in the dialogue to bring new ideas and efforts to improving the economic health and vitality of our local economy....
