Survived by his parents, Maureen and Tony Serra, Bruce and Karen Whittle, grandmother Donna Griffin, grandfather Loren Whittle, siblings Lindsay Wahlman and Quinn Whittle. Predeceased by "PeePa" Troy Griffin, grandmother Joann Whittle, and great grandparents. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, friends, two nephews, cousins, Kacie Walsh and his "brother's".

Bear Valley Mourns The Loss Of Dave Edney

Bear Valley, CA...It is with great sadness, the Bear Valley Fire Department and Bear Valley Search and Rescue announce the passing of one of their members; Dave Edney. On February 13th, shortly after completing one of his notorious workouts, Dave collapsed, and in spite of the efforts of the responding medical personnel, Dave passed away. The exact cause in still unknown. Dave will be remembered for his unequalled work ethic, his unbelievably positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances, and his willingness to do anything to help a friend. Dave was an extreme endurance athlete, who completely embodied the Bear Valley lifestyle in his love of the Great Outdoors.

Autopsy Scheduled In Death Of 14 Year Old Valley Springs Girl

Valley Springs, CA...On 02/10/16 at about 0820 hours, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence on the 300 block of Sequoia Avenue, in Valley Springs, for a subject that was not breathing. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a 14 year old female who was pronounced deceased on scene by medical staff.

Valley Springs, CA...James Arthur Woodson, born Sep 6, 1949 in Stockton, California made his home in Valley Springs for the past 33 years and died at home Jan 26, 2016 of natural causes at age 66. Jim earned his Bachelor of Professional Arts from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and apprenticed with world-renowned portrait photographer, Yousuf Karsh, in Ottawa, Canada. With his ongoing creative spirit, Jim accomplished designing and building his own home, opening his own photography studio, and having his photographs purchased by museums and galleries.

Copperopolis, CA...Shelly Johnson, May 20, 1943 January 27, 2016 of Copperopolis, CA, formerly of Arnold, CA. Shelly was taken suddenly from her earthly life on January 27 th to begin her eternity with the Lord. Her smile, laughter, and simply being a good listener, friend, and example to follow will be missed by all who knew her. She was born in San Jose, CA and moved to Calaveras County in 1977. She married her Junior High sweetheart Bob in 1961. Together they raised six children, and were a devoted Grammy and Grandpa to eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren...

Ronald Lee Corpening Sr. 1938 - 2016

Avery, CA...Ronald Lee Corpening Sr., better known as "POPS", passed away on January 18, 2016 at Mark Twain hospital. He was 77. Born in Tuolumne County, he was the son of Frank and Beryl Corpening. Ron graduated from Bret Harte High school in 1956. He was employed at Calaveras Cement Co. and California Electric Steel foundry. He moved to Lancaster Ca.in the late 1970's and was employed by Enduro Plumbing as a pipe fitter. In 2005 he moved back to Calaveras County and lived the remainder of his life in Arnold and Avery.

Angels Camp, CA...Vicki Rea Hollars, age 58 passed peacefully on January 16, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones at her home in Angels Camp. She was born in San Fernando California on October 18, 1957 to Verna & Clee Scott. They moved to Angels Camp in 1970 where she attended school graduating from Bret Harte high School in 1975. She married Jerry Hollars in 1976 and had three Daughters Heather, Chandra, Brooke and step daughter Lisa. She had two more children David Jr & Brittane Scoggins with long time partner David Scoggins Sr. she was a devoted partner, mother and grandmother. She loved horses, winning youngest rider award at 3 years old in the 1961 Frontier Days Parade in Newhall California. she was well known for her compassionate nature and wonderful culinary skills. She was quite athletic, playing softball as well as competing in semi-pro bowling league. She moved to Idaho in 1993 where she developed lifelong friendships and continued her culinary career. Returning to Angels Camp in 2014 to be with her family while she battled cancer.

San Andreas, CA...John Michael Stark passed away Sunday, January 17 at St Joseph's Hospital in Stockton, from complications of emphysema, with his family at his bedside. He was 72. John was born on October 18, 1943 in San Francisco. He spent his elementary school years in San Francisco and moved to Cupertino for his high school years. While at Cupertino High School he met Sophia (Sue) Paizis. They were married soon after high school in 1965.

Valley Springs, CA...Mary Ann Pons, Born July 23, L937, in southern California to older parents, Wynn A. and Gladys Evelyn Van Osdel. Her last residence was Valley Springs, where she passed away in her home December 20th, 2015 from natural causes. She was a graduate from University of San Francisco with a BS in Organizational Behavior. She retired after thirty faithful years with Pacific Bell Telephone Company where she was a customer service representative. Her hobbies included gardening, camping, movies, reading, music and traveling. She was a dedicated volunteer for several years at the Humane Society in Calaveras County, because she loved animals so much....
