Murphys, CA...Surrounded by several of her loving family members, Colleen L. Smart passed away peacefully on December 1, 2015 following a brief illness. Born on September 17, 1925 to Lloyd (Richard) and Grace Looney, Colleen spent her early years in the town of her birth, Turlock, California. Caught in the depths of the Great Depression, the family moved to Merced, California where work opportunities were more prevalent and where extended family members could provide added support to the family. Although the family struggled, Colleen often remembered that what were then called “hobos” would come from the nearby rail yard to the family home’s back gate and ask for scraps of food. Collen remembered her mother offering a buttered biscuit more often than not..

Arnold, CA...Lisa Merrill Lee of Arnold, CA became one of God’s angels on October 27, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. She was 52 years old. She was born on April 28, 1963 in Berwyn, Illinois and moved to California when she was six years old. She grew up in Concord, CA. While living in Concord, Lisa was a marching member of the International Champion Concord Blue Devil Drum and Bugle Corp of which she was so proud.

Murphys, CA...Nettie Lynn Wagner, 52 of Murphys, CA., entered into Heaven’s Gates on November 4, 2015 after a thought to be cured battle with cervical cancer. She was a loving mother to her daughter Nattilee Morea Ieanichello and son Roman James Wagner. She also left her devoted loving Husband Peter George Wagner JR. of Avery, Ca. The couple were hard working people trying to better their lives to care for their family and have a wonderful life in their golden years to come. She has two beautiful grandchildren, Mason and Jema Moris from Nattilee that she cherished.

| Angels Camp, CA...Lenora was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on February 27, 1925, the youngest of Andrew and Maggie Downieʼs four daughters. She passed away during the early morning hours of October 12, 2015 in the Sonora home of her daughter Christine and son-in-law Ron Behrens with whom she resided for the past eleven years. During World War II Lenora met her husband, Wilbert (Roy). They married August 10, 1944. After World War II they moved to New Jersey where they had nine children. Mountain Ranch, CA...Mass of Christian burial for Wendelyn (Wendell) Heier, 58, of Mountain Ranch, CA will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hosmer, SD with Fr. Mike Kelly celebrating. Wendell passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015. He was born September 3, 1957 to Margaret (Hopfinger) and Adam Heier. He grew up on a small family farm near Hosmer, SD, where he loved spending time in nature, especially walking amongst the trees. He often entertained his younger siblings telling stories of a fictional character he created, using the same character to tell stories to his two boys later in his life. He attended school in Hosmer graduating with the class of 1975. Following graduation, Wendell moved to California and began his career as a butcher working for his Uncle John Heier at Pure Sausage in Lodi, CA where he stayed until February 1984. For the next 25 years he worked with Big Trees Market in Avery and Arnold, CA. Wendell’s passion was to open his own market so he could share the skills he learned from his uncle John and from his cousins in Hosmer, SD. In 2009, he helped open T.W. Meat Co. butcher shop in Valley Springs, CA as part owner which closed in 2012 at which time he took a position with Senders Market in Mountain Ranch, CA.

Dorrington, CA...Bruce Jerry Douglas passed away at his home in Dorrington, CA on October 21, 2015. He was surrounded by family and friends. Bruce was born November 17, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota and spent his childhood years in St. Paul, MN and El Cerrito and Chico, CA. He graduated from Chico High School and attended Butte College. He was a proud Marine who served in the First Marine Division during the Korean Conflict. His Life work was a telecommunications technician with Western Electric/ AT&T/ and Lucent.

Mountain Ranch, CA...William Tod Scott, 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Mark Twain Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Tod was born June 26, 1929 in Geary, Oklahoma to William Clifford and Lula Marie Scott. After finishing school, Tod worked on the family farm. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On October 13, 1952, Tod married Evelyn Carlile. Tod earned a living as an electrician, television repairman and carpenter. He was an avid fiddle and guitar player and also enjoyed gardening and writing poetry. Tod was an active member of the California State Old Time Fiddlers Association, the California Blue Grass Association and the Metropolitan Owners Club of North America.
