Angels Camp, CA...William Donald ( Don) White passed away January 22, 2015 in Angels Camp, he was 89 years old. Don, as he was known to his family and friends was a long-time resident of Angels Camp. He was born on August 15, 1925 in Alameda, California. He attended and graduated from Alameda High School in 1942 where he was on the Dean’s List, a member of the R.O.T.C. and performed in the high school acting theater. Following high school , Don joined the United States Army Air Corp and became a bombardier assigned to various heavy bombers during World War II. San Andreas, CA...Mark Anthony Barr died Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Sacramento, CA at the age of 54. He was born July 30, 1960, in San Andreas and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1978. After high school he attended college at Biola University. He later transferred to U.C. Fullerton where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Mark came back to Calaveras and worked as a Social Worker. Mark eventually moved to Sacramento where he worked as a counselor at a boy’s home for many years.

Murphys, CA...Ramon (Ray) Cuellar Sevier, age 88 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday January 2nd 2015 in Castro Valley, Ca. Ray was born in Texas and served 2 years in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship Louisville, during World War 11, 1945 and survived a suicide attack on his ship. After returning from war, Ray and Beatrice were married. Ray enjoyed his 45 years of owning a successful Auto Repair Business in Castro Valley, Ca and Mesa AZ. After the loss of his wife in 2007, Ray moved to Murphys Ca. to be closer to his family. Ray was a huge family man and really loved being around his family and grandchildren. He loved working as a Marshall at Forest Meadows Golf Course, playing golf, building bird houses, and horse racing. He will Dearly be missed. Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Life:

Valley Springs, CA...George (Teddy) Berry died Saturday, January 3, 2015. Teddy was born September 26, 1956 in Santa Clara County, CA He moved to Valley Springs (Paloma) with his family in 1970. He competed in the Special Olympics. He went to school and vocational training through Valley Mountain Regional Center. During his adult life, he resided in Stockton at different cares homes. He loved eating pancakes and enjoyed playing pinball, slot machines, listening to the radio especially rock and roll music, shopping for electronics at the second hand stores, and tinkering with electronics which led to his employment as a radio repairman....

ESPN SportsCenter Anchor and Dedicated Family Man Stuart Scott has Passed Away

New Haven, CT...Stuart Scott, a dedicated family man and one of ESPN’s signature SportsCenter anchors, has died after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. He was 49. Scott is survived by his two daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15; his parents, O. Ray and Jacqueline Scott; and his three siblings Stephen Scott, Synthia Kearney, Susan Scott and their families. His girlfriend, Kristin Spodobalski, was with Stuart and cared for him every step of the way and along with support from his loving family, close friends and colleagues, he went through several surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and clinical trials to stay strong and ward off cancer for as long as humanly possible....

Sandra Jane Dragomanovich died Thursday, December 25, 2O14 in her home with her family by her side. She was 76. Sandy was born April 17, 1938 in San Diego, CA. She loved to cross country ski, hike in the summer with her group of close friends and enjoyed working in her yard. She was on the cemetery board as well as the Planning Commission and rnany other organizations. Sandy also worked and then became owner of Calaveras Casuals for about 30 years until she closed the store...

Frog Jump Loses Legend!

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee would like to honor the memory of Warren "Buck" King who passed away yesterday. Buck was involved in many aspects of the Fair, including serving as the the Fair Manager from 1997 to 2003. King was also on the Board of directors. A post from which he resigned to become the Fair Manager. However his area of expertise was the Frog Jump. He officiated the Frog Jump for more than 50 years. First as a member of the Angels Boosters Club and then as a founding member of the Frog Jump Committee. "I learned everything I know about frogs from Buck, how to tell the male from the female, how to care for them and how to respect them", says Laurie Giannini, CEO/Fair manger. "Buck understood the significance of the Frog Jump and how to leverage it" continues Giannini...
