Rail Road Flat, CA...Lucas Nathaniel Bur was born August 23, 1986 at Jackson, CA. He was 30 years old. He grew up in Railroad Flat, CA, and had returned and lived there again for the last two years of his life. Lucas found his longed-for peace on July 25, 2017, in the National Forest in Calaveras County, CA., after 20 years of quietly battling depression.
San Andreas, CA...Leroy Coleman Rader was a 5th generation Calaveras County resident descendant of pioneer families. He was born October 20, 1942 to Coleman Rader of Glencoe and Ruth (Carlton) Rader of West Point. He attended West Pont elementary and then Calaveras High, graduating in 1960. He then married his high school sweet heart Sandy Oneto in 1962. They resided in Glencoe then Spring Valley before building their home on the family ranch outside of San Andreas on Bear Mountain in 1973 where they raised their two children.
Mokelumne Hill, CA...Arthur John Novotny, cherished Dad, Grandpa, Friend, passed away on August 12, 2017, at the age of 85. He was a longtime resident of Mokelumne Hill. Art was born in Stockton, CA to Eleanor and John Novotny. He attended elementary school in White Pines and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1950. Art worked as an Accountant/Controller in both Calaveras and Amador Counties.
Robert Bass III, Found Deceased & Recovered By Search Groups & Dive Team

Sonora, CA...Monday morning the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team along with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Dive Team, Mobile Field Force Unit and Aero Squadron were able to safely re enter the river in search of Robert Bass III. Robert was reported to have fallen into the river below from the Tri-Dam Powerhouse on July 18th as he attempted to climb a fence.

Charlottesville, VA...The Charlottesville Police Department continues to investigate the fatal traffic crash that occurred Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, in the city. The crash occurred at 1:42 p.m., at the intersection of 4th Street SE and E. Water Street. The three-vehicle crash occurred on 4th Street. A Dodge Challenger was traveling south on 4th Street at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a sedan headed south on 4th Street. The impact of that crash pushed the sedan into the minivan in front of it. The minivan had slowed for a crowd of people crossing through the intersection. The impact of the crash pushed the vehicles into the crowd of pedestrians. The Dodge Challenger fled the scene, but was located and stopped a short time later by Charlottesville Police.

Mountain Ranch, CA...A celebration of life will be held for Lucas Bur on August 19th at Noon at the Mountain Ranch Community Club. Potluck to follow, please bring a side dish or dessert, and a written story about Luke to share and leave with his family. There will also be a softball game at Mountain Ranch Park at 9am.

Veteran & Coach Paul Irving Mulvey Passed Away at 63

Angels Camp, CA...Paul Irving Mulvey passed away Sunday, July 16th, 2017 at the age of 63. He was born September 21st, 1953 in Providence, Rhode Island to Thelma Mulvey and later adopted by his grandparents Louella and Nicholas Mulvey. He served in the Navy for 2 years and was honorably discharged April 11th, 1980. Paul was a teachers aide at Mark Twain Elementary where he also became a basketball coach for the Badgers. He was involved with the Junior Olympics Track and Field event. He then went on to work at Bret Harte High school in the maintenance department and was the head of maintenance when he retired July 2017. At his time at Bret Harte he became the Junior Varsity Girls Basketball coach winning numerous championships.
Felicia M. Rodriguez, 23 Lost Her Life in Hwy 108 Collision Near Little Sweden

Pinecrest, CA...On Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at approximately 1:25 am, 23 year old Sonora resident, Felicia M. Rodriguez, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on State Route 108 west of Bald Mountain Heliport Rd (Little Sweden) at a high rate of speed in the #2 (right) lane. Rodriguez was unable to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway as she allowed her vehicle to travel into the #1 (left) lane and over corrected turning the vehicle back to the right. Rodriguez lost control of the vehicle traveling back into the #2 lane. The vehicle then traveled across both westbound lanes and onto the center median. The vehicle overturned twice and subsequently collided on the driver's side with a large pine tree in the center median. Rodriguez sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
