Houston, TX...The following is a statement from acting NASA Administrator Steve Jurczyk on the passing of Michael Collins: “Today the nation lost a true pioneer and lifelong advocate for exploration in astronaut Michael Collins. He also distinguished himself in the Gemini Program and as an Air Force pilot.

Carl Hiser 1940 - 2021

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2021 03:14 PM
Murphys, CA...Carl Hiser - Son, husband, father, uncle, retired automotive comptroller, friend, all around good man with a warm beautiful smile: all of the usual, normal platitudes for a man, who was anything but a usual man. He was generous, warm, stubborn, feisty and sometimes frustrating, but always a man of deep, never wavering faith in Jesus Christ and his never ending promise of salvation and eternal life.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on the Passing of Walter Mondale

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/20/2021 10:25 AM
Washington, DC...It’s with great sadness that Jill and I learned of the passing of Vice President Walter Mondale, but great gratitude that we were able to call one of our nation’s most dedicated patriots and public servants a dear friend and mentor. Jill and I had the opportunity to speak to Fritz and his family over the weekend, to reflect on the years of friendship we shared, and how much we learned from and leaned on each other.

Former Vice President Walter Frederick "Fritz" Mondale 1928 – 2021

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/19/2021 08:15 PM
Minneapolis, MN....Walter Frederick "Fritz" Mondale (January 5, 1928 – April 19, 2021.  The following is a statement from his family.  "It is with profound sadness that we share news that our beloved dad passed away today in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  As proud as we were of him leading the presidential ticket for Democrats in 1984, we know that our father’s public policy legacy is so much more than that.  The Fair Housing Act of 1968 was one of his proudest – and hardest fought – achievements.  In the course of his years in the U.S. Senate, he understood the sense of reckoning that this country then faced, and was committed to that work alongside Hubert Humphrey, Josie Johnson, Roy Wilkins and so many others.  We are grateful that he had the opportunity to see the emergence of another generation of civil rights reckoning in the past months.
