Arnold, CA...This week's trout plants will include the West and East Fork of the Carson River. Lake Alpine was excellent this past weekend after they planted. Bait caster's should try inflated nightcrawlers, Gulp Eggs, the new Garlic and Salmon Egg Scented Power Bait and Gulp Power Bait, Floating Power Eggs, and Power Bait on a 24" to 30 " leader. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, ants, and sparrow nymphs on a intermediate sink line. Look for any hatches coming off just before dark. Lure fishermen should try..

Volunteers Invited to Public Lands Day Trail Project

Sonora, CA…The Forest Service today announced that in celebration of National Public Lands Day on September 25, the Calaveras Ranger District will be hosting a volunteer trail project this Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers get to build a half-mile section of gentle, meandering trail close to the Top of the World Vista Point, just east of Lakemont Subdivision near Arnold. ...

Arnold, CA...On 9/17/10 at about 10:41pm, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department received several reports of multiple shots fired in the area of the Meadow Mont Shopping Center, in Arnold. Deputies responded to the area and found the Calaveras County Sheriff's Sub-Station/California Highway Patrol's Sub-Station had been vandalized. The Sub-Station was shot multiple times with a large caliber firearm. Approximately 9 rounds were fired into the building. The area was searched...

Arnold, CA...The sleepy burg of Arnold was not so sleepy tonight. The Calaveras County Sheriffs Office is investigating what is possibly a drive by shooting case in Arnold . Up to 7 rounds were fired into the Sheriff/CHP substation in the Meadowmont Shopping Center. Luckily no one was injured...
