Arnold, CA...The Hazel Fischer Mustangs, of Arnold CA, took the jump with a quick toss back to one of their own, and a heavy charge straight down to the hoop. They regained possession of the ball and scored another, up by 4 and only a few minutes into the period. However, they soon relinquished the lead to Pioneer. It was a great battle by the little guys on both sides. Pioneer threw some fantastic shots, even a 3 pointer. By the time the 2nd period ended, the score was 9 Mustangs, 18 Pioneer. The Mustangs, having home court advantage, were hustled off at half time by the coach...

Calaveras Big Trees State Park -- Snowshoe Thompson, the legendary mail carrier of the Sierra Nevada gold rush era, will be making a visit to Calaveras Big Trees State Park Sunday Feb. 19. The public is invited to participate in one of two "encounters" with Thompson as portrayed by Steve Hale as part of a fund-raising event that supports park programs. The encounters will begin at 11 a.m., or 1 p.m. in two separate sessions...

Arnold, CA...Stop by the CHS Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, Thurs - Sat., 10-5pm. Located in Meadowmont next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE). This week the Adoption Center will have at least 11 Kitties available. Adoption donations have been reduced by 50% for the month of December. If you've been considering adopting a kitty companion, now is still the PURR-fect time to do so. We will be closing at 12:30 PM on Saturday for Christmas eve, so please come in earlier in the day and meet all the magical kitties. CHS would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas!
