Bear Valley, CA...Last week mother nature blessed us with over a foot of snow in the high country. It closed the passes again for a few days before they could be reopened. Laurie Ahlberg used the opportunity to go get a few more turns in on her skis and say goodbye to winter. Thanks Laurie!!

White Pines (Not Arnold), CA...The White Pines Park Committee is holding their annual park clean up on May 2nd from 9am - 1pm. Lunch will be served but bring your rake. This will get White Pines Park polished up and ready for another summer season. Many of our visitors who visit our area may not know that White Pines Park and many of our parks and recreation facilities are primarily funded and maintained by volunteers....

Mountain Passes Open: Ebbetts, Monitor & Sonora are all open |

Lake Alpine, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has removed the snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to reopen State Route 4 (SR-4) over Ebbetts Pass on Monday, April 27, 2015, at approximately 1:30 p.m. In addition, crews reopened Monitor Pass (SR-89) in Alpine County and Sonora Pass (SR-120) in Tuolumne County today....

Arnold, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE), open THURS.–SAT., 10 am–5 pm. We will also have kitties available at our Angels Camp Adoption Center, located in Angels Town Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), open Thurs. through Sat., 11 am–5 pm. This week we have guest cats from Calaveras County Animal Services appearing at both adoption centers! This is an exciting new opportunity to meet and adopt shelter cats at the CHS Adoption Centers! Although kitten season has arrived, there are still many wonderful adults from last season and beyond, like Abby, who have been patiently waiting for quite a while for their forever homes. Please opt to adopt a precious adult kitty and don't leave them behind! Come in and find your special companion!
