Fatal Injuries To Los Altos Man In Friday Evening Collision |

Murphys, CA…Last night a 67 year old Los Altos, CA man was driving his 1976 Fiat east on Hwy 4 at approximately 60 mph. As he came to a left curve he failed to negotiate the curve and allowed his vehicle to run off the roadway, down an embankment and collided with a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries.

San Andreas, CA...Today the opening of roads and allowing people back into many of the burned areas in the fire perimeter accelerated. Late this afternoon we checked in the Coroners office and fatalities are holding at two. The one off of Jesus Maria that we reported yesterday and the recovery of another fire victim today. Fire behavior remained minimal throughout the night helping crews continue to progress with perimeter control. The evacuations in Amador County have been reduced to an advisory, allowing residents to return to their homes. ***Damage Assessment teams have arrived and started evaluations of damaged and destroyed structures*** Road Closures: (Calaveras County) SR 26 from Mokelumne Hill to Ridge Road; Ridge Road closed to Railroad Flat Road; Railroad Flat Road closed to Mountain Ranch Road; Mountain Ranch Road closed to Hwy 49; Michel Road is closed. Additional Road Closures: Mountain Ranch Road East of Willow Creek Sheep Ranch Road at Fricot City Road Sheep Ranch Road at Mountain Ranch Road Railroad Ranch Road at Jesus Maria Swiss Ranch Road at Railroad Flat Road Jesus Maria Road at SR 26

All VUSD Schools Will Be Closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday Due To The Butte Fire |

Avery, CA...(Update...VUSD has extended their closure for all schools through Wednesday. School to resume on Thursday) Due to the current evacuation orders from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office the Vallecito School District will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, September 14th & 15th. The closure is for Hazel Fisher School, Albert Michelson School & Avery Middle School

Calaveras Community Foundation Establishes Butte Fire Disaster Relief Fund |

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) has created the Disaster Relief Fund to provide disaster assistance in Calaveras County. The Foundation will be focusing on post-event recovery and is currently assessing how best to use its financial resources.

San Andreas, CA...Repopulation Issues: The county roads and utility companies are working to make the area safe. We are doing everything we can to accommodate evacuees and assisting them back into their homes as soon possible. Repopulation Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 9:00 PM. The following evacuation areas have been lifted and are open to RESIDENTS ONLY: Highway 49 at the Amador county line south to Highway 26, east along Highway 26 to Italian Vista – areas outside of the burned area. 6766, 6800, 6816, 6851, 6961, 6979, 7000 Italian Vista Drive. Residents of 8869 and 8895 Highway 26. The Main Street area of Mokelumne Hill to include: Big Bar Road, Gold Rush Lane, Loan Lane, Sunshine Lane, W. Hermit Valley, CA…From Yesterday…The Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association Board regretfully has decided to officially cancel our September 12th Celebration in Hermit Valley.The Butte Fire is continuing to expand aggressively and had consumed almost 32,000 acres as of this morning, homes have been lost and our friends and families are dealing with evacuations and road closures.
