Mark Twain Medical Center is Once Again Promoting Pink in the Night in Honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. |

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be promoting the importance of early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in the annual ‘Pink in the Night’ opening ceremony September 26th, in Valley Springs at the Terrace’s (Common Grounds) at 7:00pm. All those who currently have breast cancer, survivors and support providers will be able to light a candle in tribute to those who are currently battling breast cancer, or in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle. “We at Cal-Waste support the FIGHT against Breast Cancer,” exclaimed MaryBeth Ospital, Community Outreach Coordinator “We will be showing our support during the lighting ceremony and will have one of our trucks lit up in pink lights. Be sure and look for our trucks with pink ribbons around town!”

The open public meeting is to convene at 4:00 p.m. Top items on the agenda are the School Climate Report Card, CSBA Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, transitional kindergarten as well as the MPC Jog-A-Thon.

Angels Camp, CA...On September 14th the Bret Harte FFA Chapter hosted their annual Welcome Back Picnic. Over 250 FFA members, parents, and FFA boosters were in attendance at the high school multipurpose room and theater. The Bret Harte FFA is lead this year by President- Maddie Walraven, Vice President -Izzy Herrin, Secretary -Emily Bolton, Treasurer-Kari Farwell, Reporter -Ashlynn Maddeaux, and Sentinel -Nick Ratkovich. This team strives to accomplish their motto this year “Dreams are made of Hard Work, Sweat and Determination.”

Avery, CA...The Avery Hotel is the place to be on Saturday, September 17 from 4-9 pm when Manzanita Writers Press breaks in this newly revitalized historic landmark with ArtsHarvest, a Dinner Dance Party featuring the high-energy, genre-bending Americana music of Mumbo Gumbo. Those who have enjoyed music and camaraderie at the hotel over the years will appreciate the artful facelift it has received in the last nine months under the direction of Fred Baker of Sheep Ranch and his partners Jimmy Sedge and Andy McCardi. They have been working diligently to bring the 1850s treasure back to life. Fred’s vision is to create the Avery Social Club, where local groups and private parties can hold events. History is important to Baker, and he was instrumental in the resurrection of the Pioneer Hotel and the Dance Hall in Sheep Ranch, as well as other notable estates.
