Locomotive Restoration Equipment Stolen from Logging Museum

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/31/2013 09:49 PM
Arnold, CA...On the night of Friday, January 18th, because a locked gate was blocking the road, a truck drove across the museum's amphitheater to a storage unit where tools owned by the person in charge of the restoration of the locomotive were stored. A lock was cut and over $6000 dollars of tools were taken. Three of the biggest items stolen were an arc welder, a 220 volt Devilbiss air compressor, and a Victor acetylene torch set hooked up to two large propane tanks that were rented. An antique machinists chest filled with machinists small tools, and tool boxes containing large wrenches and such used for working on the Shay were also taken. The museum volunteers are having a real problem dealing with anyone low enough to steal from a project like our locomotive restoration...

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/30/2013 11:49 AM
Arnold, CA...Yesterday we stopped by the site of the dual water main breaks on the Meadowmont "Golf Course". We were hoping to get some shots of the crews hard at work but they had made quick work of their repairs and were already bringing the system pressure back up. So we thought all of you really might like to see a photo of a backhoe in the meadow. Good work crews! The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) announced Monday, Jan. 29th of two main line breaks on a 12-inch steel water transmission line in Arnold. The breaks disrupted water service from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to approximately 300-500 customers in the Arnold area. CCWD crews worked on the two breaks located near the Meadowmont Golf Course. One break was located at a joint in the line and the second break was a split possibly caused by previous construction work in the area. Waterlines were flushed and pressurized and repairs were completed by 4:00 p.m. on Monday...

Arnold, CA...For Roger,
" The test of Gold is Fire. The test of Truth is Time.
The test of God's love are the heavens above, and everything sublime.
Treasures in life are many, dreams realized but few,
but I know the test of God's goodness, is when he gave me a husband like you."anon
Happy 33rd anniversary sweetheart. I am so proud to be your wife.
