Calaveras County Water District Proposes Water and Wastewater Rate Changes

San Andreas, CA...After conducting a thorough review of its revenue and expense requirements, the Calaveras County Water District is proposing a five-year water and wastewater rate change for all residential and commercial customers. An entire chapter is devfoted to the activities of our local indians. Then it jumps into the history of the first village that one would visit as they enter the county from the west, Telegraph City. Yes, it's just a ghost town today, but you'll see a picture of the Parks mansion which burned to the ground in 1921. It was a beauty! The foundations are still there for you to see...

Arnold, CA..Dorothy Baughman-Fowler was born in Murray, Utah to Philip and Hazel Atkinson. She spent most of her youth in Inkom, Idaho. She married Charles Sherman Baughman in 1936 and they came to California shortly after. In 1957 they moved to Arnold, CA and lived there until Charles’ death in 1968....

Arnold, CA...Volunteer Trail Work Day, third Saturday of each month from May to October, 2013, Please meet at the US Forest Service Station in Hathaway Pines at 8:30 am. After a brief safety orientation by Jeffery Hilson, our Stanislaus Forest Service Trail Manager, we will car pool to the section of trail we will build that day. Since it often gets warm as the morning progresses, please bring layers, gloves, hat, sunscreen, and water. If you have a favorite garden tool like loppers, bring those, but we will have tools for everyone. Folks from eight to eighty-eight are invited; children should have adult supervision. We wrap up around noon, sometimes a little earlier. If you have another obligation that day, feel free to depart sooner as needed...

Lindy Winkler and "Boot Scootn Croaker" Take the Government Frog Jump

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Government Frog Jump Hopped into the record books on May 7th with the Assessors Office taking the win and going 1-2 this year. The Government Jump is a sanctioned jump and the winner is automatically qualified for the Frog Jump Finals this Sunday. Lindy Winkler took top honors Jockeying "Boot Scootn' Croaker"with a 13'9" jump. Adriane Parris, last years winner slipped a notch with a 11'9" jump jockeying "Toadly Awesome". The Library Hopped Strong with a 11'3" Jump for Marcia Thompson and "Icky Sticky"...
