Arnold, CA.....Dear EwePhoric Friends & Family....After much consideration, I have decided that it is time to retire. This summer marks 40 years since I left home and entered the working world. While I do love my little yarn shop and value the many friendships made over the past 4 years, the time is long overdue for me to re-prioritize my life. I am looking forward to spending lots more time with family; to resurrecting 10 years of genealogy research; learning to spin & weave; to teaching the fiber arts; and to creating luscious textiles. I want to read every President's biography; may be even learn to speak Spanish; and lose those @#% pounds.....

"As of today, 5/4/08, Matt only has 3 more radiation treatments. He will then have about a 4-5 week break, before his chemo program. These last few weeks have been tough for Matt. He had to have a blood transfusion, because his red blood cell count was too low. They were only able to give him one unit, because the added blood gave him a high fever. He’s having a second blood transfusion tomorrow. He had to have IV’s everyday last week, to keep him....

Lake Alpine, CA...We just spoke with Randy at the Camp Connell Caltrans office and they expect to have Hwy 4 over Ebbetts Pass open by 2pm this afternoon. So as of this afternoon The Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway will be whole again for the summer. So get out the cameras, pack the car and go explore the high country...

Arnold, CA...We would like to thank Sid Marsh, The Balloon Guy, for joining our family of advertisers. After 14 years of giving Calaveras communities fancy foils and lighthearted latex; Ray Sutliff, the Balloon Man, decided it was time to pop out of the balloon business. As luck would have it, Ray did a job for the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway’s “Scenic Celebration” where he worked with Sid Marsh. Now Sid with a creative background in television, theater, and multimedia saw that Ray’s business and it’s commitment to the community needed to continue. So the Balloon Man passed the helium tank and sold his business to the Balloon Guy. Fortunately for everyone, Ray is still using his years of experience and community involvement to mentor and consult with the new business.

Arnold, CA....GABA will hold a Mixer tonight, May 8th from 5:30~8:30pm. They're holding it a bit early this month. The Summer Season is almost upon us and it’s Frog Jump time already! Please join them at: PACIFIC STATE BANK IN ARNOLD (next to the Post Office) They would love to show of their newly remodeled office! Appetizers will be served and there will be a no-host bar.....

Arnold, CA....The Cedar Center in downtown Arnold will host their 4th Annual Classic Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show on June 21, 2008. Car show hours are 10am to 4pm, vendors from 10am to 6pm and live music from 6pm to 8pm with Schiraz. The event and Center feature: restaurants, unique shops, raffles (including a 50/50), live music, awards, food, craft and car-related vendor booths. We tried to take a shot of every entry for the 2007 Show to give you an idea of the breadth and quality of the vehicles on hand. Just click on the images below to take you to the photos......
