We will have 8+ irresistible kitties available to meet you this week, so don't miss the opportunity to introduce yourself. Nicci and all of her feline friends would love to meet you. If you are closer to Angels Camp, make sure you check out our Angels Camp Thrift Store Adoption Center, located in Angels Towne Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), also open THURS.–SAT., 10-5. Calaveras Big Trees State Park -- The 25th annual Family Day Celebration -- a full day of events, displays and programs aimed at the entire family -- will be held Saturday Aug. 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at the popular state park. Put on your walking shoes and plan to spend a day exploring one of California's best state parks. The event offers a chance to experience a beautiful scenery, with the addition of a numerous displays and events related to the park experience.

Angels Camp, CA...As you and your child plan and shop for the items on your “Back to School” list, think carefully about that new back pack. To avoid injury, choose a backpack that is the appropriate size for the back it needs to fit. Select a pack with well-padded shoulder straps to prevent too much pressure from being placed on the neck and shoulders. A proper fitting backpack should rest evenly in the middle of the back, with both straps placed on the shoulders. Straps should be snug, but not overly tight; basically, the strap should be easy to take on and off but not allow the pack to hang more than 4 inches below the waist. If the backpack comes with a waist belt, it should be worn to help distribute the weight more evenly...
