Scramble for Scholars with The Chamber of Commerce |

Arnold, CA...The Golf Committee has put together a terrific event for this year's Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. This is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, June 21st at the Sequoia Woods Country Club. It is a scramble format with a 1:00 pm shotgun start and I want you to be a part of it! This Tournament allows us to give away 2 graduating High School Seniors Scholarships. The cost for the Tournament is $100 per player and $400 per foursome and it includes a great dinner following golf. We will have a raffle and sponsored holes as well. Please put together a foursome (whether you plan to play or not), and sponsor a hole, just $100.00 and be a part of this important Chamber event.

Anderson, CA -- The Sierra Pacific Foundation, the philanthropic organization founded by the Emmerson Family, recently marked its thirty-fourth year in granting scholarships to dependent children of Sierra Pacific Industries’ employees. This year 203 students will collectively receive $518,542 to attend colleges, universities and trade schools during the 2013-2014 school year. Recipients are eligible for the scholarship for four years and are sometimes granted a 5th year based on their school and degree program....

San Andreas, CA...For over two decades, Calaveras Arts Council has hosted free summer concerts. Music in the Parks 2013 will be another great music series. The first day of summer starts a week earlier in Calaveras County. On Wednesday, June 12, the Calaveras Arts Council begins its 22nd year of providing free music in the county parks from Copperopolis to Arnold, and Valley Springs to Rail Road Flat. This fun fill musical road show is called Music in the Parks. Residents and visitors pack up their favorite picnic treats, pull together their lawn chairs and blankets, and set out for ten weeks of great music, family friendly environments, and kick back to savor the experience....

Murphys, CA...It was a day of great discovery on the campus of Michelson Elementary School in Murphys. Principal Brett Loring alerted the 2nd graders that some "local folks" had found something unusual up in the sandbox and requested the students for some digging assistance. They headed up to the sandpit and indeed found amazing, perhaps prehistoric findings. The young archaeologists then worked independently with their own set of little tools to reveal their fossils. They children have been studying about bones and fossils with their teacher, Suzanne Mattson...
