Mother Lode League Summary for This Week...."A Learning Experience"

Angels Camp, CA...This week was a winless one so far with one game left to play as Amador plays Galt tonight. The Calaveras Redskins had a long bus ride home from Modesto Christian on the losing end of a 51-15 game. The Argonaut Mustangs had a similar bus ride home from River City with a 20 point deficit in the 41-21 game. The Linden Lions football team came up short in the battle of farming towns at Escalon by a score of 56-12. The Summerville Bears football team came away just a TD short in a shootout at Bradshaw Christian by a score of 49-42. The Bret Harte Bullfrogs football team dropped their home game against Drake by a score of 27-17. In non-MLL action the Sonora Wildcats lost Friday's away game against Paradise 28-13...

Arnold, CA...The smoke has been clearing during the day and the fishing on the Highway 4 corridor is excellent. Trout plants for this week are the East and West Fork of the Carson River. Lake Alpine was planted this past week by Alpine County. Make sure to obtain a fire permit and call the Forestry Dept. at 209-795-1381 for up to date fire restrictions as we are still in a dangerous fire time...
Calaveras, CA...My daughter recently entered a contest at her school called "Dinner With a Scientist". It's an annual event the district puts on for the 6th graders. To enter, she had to come up with a new invention. Her invention was a robot designed to help the elderly in their daily lives. Or as she put it, "A robot for old people"...don't worry, I helped her put a more PC title on her invention. She won a spot at the event and had a great time learning and meeting many different scientific professionals...
Countywide Fire Department Open House On October 5th

Calaveras County, CA...The Fire Departments of Calaveras County will have an Open House on Saturday, October 5th and you are invited. You can attend for tours, demonstrations and information and have an opportunity to meet your community Firemen.

Arnold, CA...Crews are responding to a possible vegetation fire in the White Pines area. More to follow if needed... Update as of 8:17am...fire reported at 1/4 acre in a drainage...(Updated as of 8:31am...1/2 Acre fire off forest service road behind White Pines Lake has been contained at 1/2 Acre! According to TCU Command) Great, Fast Work Crews!!!

Arnold, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE). We'll be open THURS.–SAT., 10-5. We will have approximately 15 kitties available to meet you this week, so it's a big week for the adoption center. We will have LOADS & LOADS OF KITTENS and one lovely adult. Don't miss out. White Pines, CA...In the case of the Logging Museum's Jamboree, the Rim Fire, despite being such a catastrophe for so many, may have been a major contributor to the attendance at this years event. We think it was the largest attendance there has ever been, the folks ate a whole lot of food, bought a lot of raffle tickets, and generally had a wonderful time. Timing was such that we had a number of professional loggers who had been on the fire, but were able to attend and compete. This included competition director, Steve Kafka, who had been on the fire just a few days before the Jamboree.
As always The Sierra Logging Museum is a must stop visit when you are in our area. Not only for events like the Logging Jamboree but for Logging history or even just a great place to have a picnic lunch.

San Andreas, CA....Comcast Cable Channel 9, Volcano Vision Channel 22. These programs come from Classic Arts Showcase and Deutsche Welle. Channel 9 programs also include the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meetings and special study sessions as well as other information on local, state or national issues....
