Frogtown, CA ... The Angels Camp Museum and Carriage House Lecture Series continues on Thursday, Apr. 17 with a presentation by Bob Trinchero and Laurie Giannini on "The History of the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee." Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the lecture begins at 7p.m. Admission is free for museum members, $10 for non-members. The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee is one of the longest running events in the State of California. Its earliest roots date back to 1893, held that year in Copperopolis, the fair eventually found a permanent home outside Angels Camp. In the spirit of the old movie classic "State Fair," the fair is a blend of entertainment, exhibits, livestock, arena events, great food and its signature event: the Frog Jump. This piece of Americana will have you leaping to return year after year.

Friends of the Fair Finance more Frogtown Improvements |
Posted by: Andy_Johnson on 03/27/2014 04:00 PM
|
Frogtown, CA ... The Friends of the Fair have spent some $24,000 over the past two months improving facilities at the Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. The scope of the group's financial support ranges from a power upgrade at the Arena and Stage to support for the Pro Rodeo - and much more. It also has financed mini computers for seven Frog Stops to create Fair awareness in communities around the county. Fair CEO Laurie Giannini explains the Friends' impact at Frogtown has gained public recognition for major projects like construction of the Ranch House hospitality center and new south entrance to the Fairgrounds. "But," she emphasizes, "a lot of their good works are behind the scenes - like purchasing a new refrigerator for the Frogateria this year, along with 40 banquet tables."

Suffering in Silence? Pinnacle Physical Therapy Can Help |
Posted by: Andy_Johnson on 03/27/2014 04:17 PM
|
Angels Camp, CA...Pelvic pain and dysfunction of the bowel and bladder systems effect far more people than are reported. In fact, incontinence is the #1 reason for admission to a skilled nursing facility. Because it is a private and sensitive region, there is embarrassment and social isolation associated with pelvic dysfunction, but in many cases, physical therapy can help. Pelvic rehab is a sub-specialty of orthopedic physical therapy. Theresa Locke, DPT, is trained to assess pelvic muscles as well as design a plan to address pain, incontinence, post-op and post-partum conditions. Treatment of this condition has been part of her practice for many years but she continues to study new information and attend continuing education to stay current and informed in the field. Patients seeking help for this condition at Pinnacle Physical Therapy will receive treatment from a well-qualified, experienced and understanding clinician. Enclosed is their complete March Newsletter...

Tax Tips From GAIL’S TAXES in Arnold, CA |
Posted by: thepinetree on 03/26/2014 11:13 AM
|
Arnold, CA...Did you file a 2010 Federal Tax Return? As many as 86,500 people in California did not, and the deadline for filing and receiving a refund is April 15, 2014. Many taxpayers do not file because they are below the filing requirement. However, if federal or state taxes were withheld, you are entitled to get a refund. You may also be eligible for applicable credits, such as the IRS Earned Income Credit, and get back more than your withholding amount. The IRS states they have more than $69 million dollars waiting to be claimed by Californians and will be forfeited after April 15. Call Gail Lee at 209-795-5315 to see if this affects you.
