Structure Fire in Arnold Today(Updated with CAL Fire report)

Arnold, CA...There was a structure fire in Arnold today in the Mill Woods neighborhood. The home was at 139 Mill Woods Circle. According to EPFD the home was completely gutted and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Total damages estimated to be $300,000 for structure and $100,000 contents. There were no human injuries although, a 68 male was displaced and Red Cross was called. One dog was taken to the vet and the other dog suffered no injuries. The full CAL Fire report is enclosed..

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to talk for a few minutes with Ray Waller, the former head Calaveras County Building official on the ongoing driveway slope controversy. For those of you who may not remember the county stopped issuing permits for development on parcels where the driveway slope exceeds 16%. This has numerous parcels currently tied up in protraced if not uncloseable escrows and has thrown the value of hundreds of millions of dollars of county real estate and homes into question. We wanted to talk with Ray about this issue because he was with the county and the building department when the original county ordinance was created to comply with state code 4290...

White Pines, CA...Last Friday, Hazel Fischer Elementary School’s 4th and 5th graders got to try their hand (and feet) at the art of snowshoeing.
