Stanislaus Hosting Several Over-SnowVehicle Open Houses in July (First Meeting Tonight)

Sonora, California, July 8, 2015 – The Stanislaus National Forest (STF) will be hosting several open houses, in July, regarding the Over-Snow Vehicle (OSV) proposed action. “The meetings will provide an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about the OSV proposed action,” said Phyllis Ashmead, Interdisciplinary Team Leader for the project, “while affording them a chance to ask questions of forest staff.”
Hathaway Pines, CA...James Allen Wagoner died of natural causes while at his home in Hathaway Pines California, on July 1st 2015 at the age of 84. James was born January 11th 1931 in Jonesville, North Carolina to Luke and Bessie Wagoner; he was the youngest and last surviving of four brothers. He graduated from Jonesville High school in North Carolina. After high school he then enlisted in the Navy, and served four years at Moffett Field California from 1950 to 1954. After the Navy, James worked for United Airlines for 35 years as a lead mechanic at the SFO jet shop.

Angels Camp, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store/Cat Adoption Center in Angels Camp, located in Angels Town Center at 240 S. Main St./Hwy 49. Summer hours for the Angels Camp Adoption Center are Thurs/Fri, 10 am–5 pm, and Saturday, 11 am–5pm. This week, in addition to BRAD & ANGIE, we will have several other guest cats from Calaveras County Animal Services who will be available for adoption through CHS. As always, we will also have kitties available at our Arnold Adoption Center, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market, open Thurs.-Sat., 10am to 5pm. If it's young kittens you're interested in, the Arnold Adoption Center is the place to go this week. Come in to one or both adoption centers and meet some wonderful felines with varied personalities! If you're a cat lover, you might find one or more that is just right for you.

2015 Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride Road Closure Information

Markleeville, CA....The Death Ride is recognized as one of the premier cycling events in the West. The five pass ride includes 129 miles and 15,000 feet of lung busting climbing. This year’s ride returns riders to our infamous five pass course including: Monitor Pass (Highway 89) 8,314 feet, Ebbetts Pass (Highway 4) 8,730 feet, Carson Pass (Highway 88) 8,580 feet. The 2015 Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride will affect two major highways through Ebbetts Pass and Monitor Pass.

Arnold, CA...The Greater Arnold Business Association's Annual Independence Day Parade was a Big Success. Big Floats, Big Crowds, Big Smiles and much, much more. We would like to thank Cedar Creek Realty for Sponsoring our parade coverage every year since 2006. We have over 300 photos in a larger format this year.
