Bear Valley, CA...Today At lower elevations...heavy rain in the morning...then rain showers...snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. At higher elevations...heavy rain and snow in the morning...then snow showers...rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 33 to 48 higher elevations...45 to 53 lower elevations. No snow accumulation. Snow level 7500 feet decreasing to 5500 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing northeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations...rain showers... Snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations...snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 18 to 33 higher elevations...30 to 42 lower elevations. No snow accumulation. Snow level 5000 feet. Prevailing northwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the north after midnight.

Dorrington, CA...Bruce Jerry Douglas passed away at his home in Dorrington, CA on October 21, 2015. He was surrounded by family and friends. Bruce was born November 17, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota and spent his childhood years in St. Paul, MN and El Cerrito and Chico, CA. He graduated from Chico High School and attended Butte College. He was a proud Marine who served in the First Marine Division during the Korean Conflict. His Life work was a telecommunications technician with Western Electric/ AT&T/ and Lucent.

White Pines, CA...Join us for the 1st annual Christmas in White Pines Parade of Lights. The Parade will stage on Dunbar Rd and proceed down Blagen Rd. Ending at the White Pines Park. November 27, 2015 start time 7PM. Stroll down Blagen Rd and enjoy the 75' Christmas Tree. Blagen Rd will be decorated in Lights. Santa will be arriving by horse and carriage in the parade. Christmas Carols by the Big Trees Community Bible Church Future Owners of Cottage Springs Resort, Dick and Jeanette will provide popcorn and hot dogs. Proceeds will be donated to the White Pines Park Committee.

Moore/Bellfour Understory Burn In Calaveras Ranger District Starts Oct. 28th

Bear Valley, CA...Ignition of the prescribed burn is expected to begin October 28th, 2015. The project will take 7 to 10 days to complete, with potential residual smoke in the area for 1-2 weeks after implementation. Burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture, air quality, and resource availability. All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines. Burning is also closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts.
