Arnold, CA...The Hazel Fischer Elementary School Parents Club is bringing back The Firecracker Mile! It will run on July 2nd, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the top of the Arnold Byway! Runners and walkers welcome! Once an Arnold Independence Day Parade tradition, the Firecracker Mile is a mile-long fun run that kicks off the Independence Day parade, beginning at the Arnold Byway and ending at Cedar Center.

Steve Cox & Paul De Baldo Honored For Their Service To Bret Harte Students |

Angels Camp, CA...At their June 20th board meeting, Bret Harte Union High School District board member Gail Bunge presented this year's Parent/Community Volunteer Awards to Steve Cox and Paul De Baldo, both of Copperopolis. Nominated by retiring Agriculture teacher Roy Beck, Cox was recognized for his volunteer work with FFA and the Ag Department. Along with organizing and managing the See's candy fundraiser, Cox has been a regular figure at all of the Ag events, helping with planning, set-up, and clean-up. Cox spoke highly of FFA and how he wanted to give back something in appreciation for all the program has done for his daughter Amanda, a recent BH grad heading up to Chico to major in Agriculture Education.

Arnold, CA...We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes with Chef/Owner Don McPherson at the beautiful Dogwood restaurant in Arnold. Don has brought another fine dining establishment to our area and they focus on fresh, high quality ingredients exquisitely prepared. Dogwood's food takes center stage in their spotless display kitchen. The great meals along with a wonderful wine selection are served in a warm, welcoming environment. The area has a new "Night Out" destination serving dinner 7 nights a week.
