San Andreas, CA.....Lisa Williams with CAL Fire just sent this Press Release out to the Media and other outlets at 12:05pm via email.....Currently the counties of Tuolumne and Calaveras are experiencing heavy smoke in low lying areas due to fires caused by heavy lightning activity yesterday. Within the Northern California region CAL FIRE website (www.fire.ca.gov) is reporting 337 lightning strike fires. Tuolumne Calaveras Unit experienced 16 fires that started yesterday around 2:30p.m. The eight Tuolumne fires that occurred yesterday are contained and are in the mop up stage. Of the eight fires in the Arnold area three are still burning with a slow rate of spread and five have been controlled......

| Lake Alpine is still producing some big rainbows. The dock is now in and the fishing is excellent. Make sure to call ahead as it does get very windy there. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. The Lodge will be open and they will be renting cabins. You can contact the lodge at 209-753-6358. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails..... |

Team Will, a non-profit Sacramento-based group cyclists, whose mission it is to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, just embarked on its second 10-day “Ride To Reach The Day” from S.F. to D.C. with full medic and SAG support. ThePineTree Pedaler, Brett Loring who did the ’06 Ride from S.F. to Virginia, rode 115 miles of Shift 2 on Monday from the rally at the Capitol to Truckee in Team Will’s June 16-26 ride.....

1/3 of the Homes in Calaveras County May Lack Final Inspections States Community Development Department |

San Andreas, CA...Final Inspections in addition to the Budget, Flood Plain and other issues were in front of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today. At nearly the close of the meeting Supervisor Tryon wanted to see the Board hold a study session at a future date on the CDA's current reexamination of property records to see whether homes and other building projects have in fact had final inspections. Stephanie Moreno came in to address the Board on this topic. She mentioned that her department is charging nominal, typically under $200 fees for the final inspections and that the inspections are held to the standards of the codes which were in effect when the projects were built. A larger bombshell that came out during this discussion, may possibly be the number of homes and projects her department feels may be in need of final inspections. The CDA staff estimates that up to "1/3 of the homes in Calaveas County may need final inspection"...

Arnold, CA...There has been a great addition to the recreation opportunities in our area. The Meadowmont Golf Course in Arnold has built a fabulous new Putt Putt golf course. It is perfect for the young and for the young at heart. This new course is right next to the Snowshoe Brewing Company and the Meadowmont Office. Children 12 and Under are only $5.00 and those 13 and Older are $7.00 including a putter and a ball to use. So the next time you drive past Meadowmont Golf Course make the stop and play a round or two....

San Andreas, CA...CHP has released information on a couple accidents that have happened the last few days. On Thursday, June 12th, a 57 year old Mountain Ranch Women lost control of her vehicle while in an apparently drugged state as she was heading West on Mountain Ranch Road. On Saturday, June 14th an 80 year old San Bruno Resident turned into the path of a 55 year old Turlock resident who was taken to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital with moderate injuries.
