Bear Valley, CA...Thanksgiving weekend means WINTERFEST CELEBRATION and we are making plans for winter excitement that will kick-off on Thanksgiving day with a special dinner at the Creekside dining room. Friday - projected opening day for downhill and cross country. In the evening special presentation by David Vassar. Saturday - the fun continues at Bear Valley Snowmobile, Tamarack lodge followed by evening bonfire, movies, live music and great food ! Bear Valley, CA...Mother Nature returns with a wave of rain & snow ahead of Thanksgiving. Bear Valley & other resorts are making snow and looking for Mother Nature to do her part as well. The NWS Forecast for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada is: Today At lower elevations, rain. At higher elevations, snow and a chance of rain in the morning, then rain and snow in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs 35 to 50 higher elevations...43 to 57 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 5 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6500 feet. Prevailing south winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 40 mph...except south 25 to 40 mph over ridges. Tonight Rain at lower elevations...and rain and snow at higher elevations. Colder. Lows 26 to 40 higher elevations...38 to 44 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service is forecasting a fairly weak system rolling through tonight West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today Mostly sunny in the morning, then partly cloudy with rain showers likely in the afternoon. Highs 45 to 60 higher elevations...54 to 66 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds 5 to 15 mph shifting to the south in the afternoon. Gusts up to 30 mph. Over ridges...revailing southwest winds 15 to 30 mph. Tonight Cloudy. At lower elevations, rain showers in the evening, then a chance of rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations, rain showers in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 25 to 40 higher elevations...34 to 44 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation. Snow level 7500 feet after midnight. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph with gusts to around 25 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges.
