Driveway Slopes Were the Hot Topic Again This Morning at a Meeting at EPFD Station One in Arnold~By John Hamilton |

Arnold, CA...There was a standing room only meeting on the Driveway Slope issue in Calaveras County. CAL-Fire and some of the area Fire Chiefs have deemed the current implementation of the county fire and safety regulations regarding driveway slopes substandard. The County has been in discussions with CAL-Fire for the last year on this issue. The Fire Chiefs have worked up a proposed list of mitigations. One of the discussion sticking points is on the county's process. Many members of the community were concerned that the county changed the process of how they were approving permits on parcels with driveway slopes above 16% without notification to the community. From the county's perspective they have maintained they have not changed the existing regulations and they are still in effect....
Public Works Director Mike Miller addressing the group and Local Realtor Barry Ward commenting at the meeting. |
