Board of Supervisors are Back in Action Tuesday Morning |

San Andreas, CA....Our Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are back in action Tuesday morning at 9am. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a RESOLUTION authorizing amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Weatherby-Reynolds-Fritson Engineering and Design for plan checking services, in an amount not to exceed $85,000, and extending term of existing agreement to December 31, 2008; MINUTE ORDER authorizing Board Chair to execute Standard Agreement 08-0122, between Calaveras County and CDFA, Weed Management, in an amount not to exceed $17,186.40, for Fiscal Years 2008/09; Dept. of Agriculture; RESOLUTION approving contract extension with California Forensic Medical Group, Inc., for medical services for jail inmates,; Sheriff - Board action: RESOLUTION adjusting the FY 2007-2008 budget for Calaveras County Sheriff, in the amount of $34,800.00, for payment of Kirchhoff & Associates contract; along with a BUDGET TRANSFER, for said amount, in conjunction therewith; (4/5 vote required) Sheriff; COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY Discussion and possible action re: the introduction/first reading of an ordinance approving revisions to Chapter 15.06 Flood Damage Prevention; Community Development Agency. White Pines, CA....The biggest flea market in Calaveras County will be held this weekend at the Ebbetts Pass Community Center in White Pines...The 29th Annual Independence Hall Flea Market will be held August 2nd~3rd. The doors open at 8 a.m. Saturday and will close at 5 p.m. Sunday. Thousands of items, most used and some new, have been donated and are mega-bargains for fans of rummage sales and flea markets. Furniture, electronics, glassware, clothing, toys, kitchenware, sports equipment, tools, and collectibles of all kinds will be available, along with some outside vendors and an inexpensive lunch.....

White Pines, CA...You know you are a kayaker when you can't go over a bridge without looking for water under it. ~Unknown Author. The eleventh annual Kayak Festival took the water this weekend at White Pines Lake in Arnold. SNAC hosted a fun filled day on the water with kayak rides, kayak demonstrations, food, and a raffle. Over 65 people signed up for the event and wanted to feel the water beneath them while riding some of the high quality kayaks in our area. SNAC had their boats ready and waiting for all of the eager paddlers staring at 10am........

The Arnold Mobility Plan being adopted by the Calaveras Council of Governments on Wednesday, July 2nd at 6:30pm. As you all know, this has been a year long process of looking at the State Route 4 corridor through Arnold. We have 31 potential projects listed in the document and look forward to taking the next steps. Next steps include submitting the document to the Planning Commission for review and recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for adoption and inclusion in the Environmental Analysis for the General Plan update....

Murphys, CA....Recently the Angels Camp-Murphys Rotary Club recognized some of the finest Law Enforcement and Fire personnel during their monthly meeting. The meeting was held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys where guests received a lovely lunch provided by the Ironstone staff. Personnel were honored by the Rotary and their departments for going above and beyond and for the protection of their community. It was also said that without the support of their families these heroes wouldn't be able to do such a fantastic job......

Mark Twain St. Josephs To Host Summer Health Career Camp |

San Andreas, CA: Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced they will be hosting a Summer Health Career Camp June 23rd to 27th at the hospital campus in San Andreas. The Camp is open to a maximum of twenty high school juniors and seniors who have a desire to gain more knowledge about careers in health care. The free week-long project includes a complete orientation and tour of the facility, three days of “job shadowing” with hospital staff, networking with hospital staff and leadership at special luncheons, CPR Certification class instruction and a special student/parent graduation luncheon on Friday...
