Avery, CA...On Thursday evening with pine trees in the background the Avery Middle School Class of 2018 took their next step along their education path. We are lucky to have great schools let by dedicated people molding our next generations. While yes, there are always areas for improvement every year it is always impressive to see the next wave of students from our local schools. As one parent who moved their family here from the Los Altos area a few years ago told me..."The Schools here in Calaveras County were equal or better than the private schools where our kids were enrolled in the Bay Area"

Why Tim Muetterties is Running for Assessor? |
Posted by: thepinetree on 06/01/2018 08:19 PM
|
Arnold, CA...In addition to 40 years of experience in valuing properties in Calaveras County, I also currently serve on the Calaveras County Assessment Appeals Board where we hear and decide disputes between taxpayers and the current Assessor. I will bring integrity, ethics, fairness, coalition building, dedication, hard work, and problem-solving experience to the position. The lack of co-operation with the current Assessor is counterproductive to the department’s success and impacts other departments in Calaveras County.

Arts Council's Music in the Parks 2018 Concerts Every Wednesday From June 13 to August 22 (No concert on July 4) |

San Andreas, CA...Winter is over and summer is finally out of storage; it’s time to liberate your lawn chairs and shake out your beach blankets, pack a picnic lunch and get ready for Music in the Parks. Music in the Parks, presented by the Calaveras County Arts Council once again celebrates summer on Wednesdays with 10 admission-free concerts throughout the county. The shows range from blues to bluegrass, rock and roll, and zydeco; the music is high-quality and the bands are popular, but the music series’ charm rests on community vibes. It’s a “little bit of Norman Rockwell,” according to Kathy Mazzaferro, executive director of the Calaveras Arts Council, “when neighbors get together with neighbors, sit out in the grass, dance, talk and listen to music.”
