Camp Connell, CA...Ten Dollar Pony is Larry Nair and Liza Beth Oliveto. They met in the usual way. He asked her to sing, and people said they liked it. So they just kept singing and playing and now look what’s happened. They’ve just released their latest album as a duo, and they certainly have a signature sound. Sure… they’ve got banjo mandolin and dobro on this one… so you might be thinking “Bluegrass??” But you’d be wrong. For starters, most of the songs on this CD are underlaid with strong rock drumming and bass, then there’s rock guitar and Reggae licks played on a banjitar, REM flavored mando, swamp soup dobro all mashed up into a country rock gumbo… maybe you better have a taste and you tell me what the genre is.

Transportation Scholarships Bring Buses to Big Trees ~ Calaveras Big Trees Association

Arnold, CA...On May 22, two big buses pulled into the parking lot of Calaveras Big Trees State Park, and 90 fifth graders from Lincoln Elementary School in Stockton piled out. They looked up and stared. For a few, it was their first time outside of the city. For some, it was their very first trip to the forest. For all, it was an amazing day of hands-on learning at the park.

Arnold, CA...Presented by Mel Bradley, grandson of the Owen and Adrienne Bradley, who helped protect the grove, raised the money to purchase the South Grove, and planted the Bradley Grove. Seminars are free and open to the public. There is a day-use fee to enter the Park. Pack a lunch, bring the family and plan on spending the day among the Giant Sequoias. Arnold, CA...Saturday June 23, 2018 is the date for the Annual Meeting and Picnic for Calaveras Big Trees Association. This year CBTA will provide the picnic. Just come and enjoy! The meeting will begin at 11 am and will include annual reports from Board Officers as well as Park information from State Park staff and introductions of their staff and interns. CBTA is proud to be able to award five scholarships at this meeting. There will be an election of Board members followed by a picnic lunch. All members of CBTA are encouraged to attend.
