Cattle in the Sierra Documentary Was Screened on Feb 24th in Murphys

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/27/2019 02:51 PM
Murphys, CA...The public was invited to a documentary film Cattle in the Sierra, a presentation on the long history of cattle grazing in the Sierra Nevada. The screening was at the Old School House in Murphys. Since Forest Preserves were established in the 1890s, the U.S. Government has increasingly sought to balance citizens’ rights to use these resources with their stewardship responsibility to protect these lands from degradation. This short documentary presents current controversies over high-country grazing and hopes for a future resolution.

Hey Good People!! 2 for 1 Tuesdays & 1,680 Acres of "Pure Mtn Fun" Awaits!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/26/2019 08:04 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 10" of new snow at 4:30am. As of 4:30am we have 10" of new snow overnight! Today looks to be a bit less snow than forecasted last night during the evening model runs. So we'll see a possible high around 36F with South winds in the 20's and gusts into the low 40's. Tonight could see 16-22" fall but given the warmer nature of this storm I suspect the totals will be on the lower end of the projections but anything can happen at this point if the scales get tipped with a few degrees cooler. Winds will also be a factor tonight as they high values could reach into the 50mph range. 4500' looks to be the initial snow level at the start then rising to 6000' by Wednesday although it rained all night in the Dorrington area/elevation so the lower elevation snowfall at first appears to be a bit higher. Some delays should be expected today with the projected winds. Mother nature is delivering this season for sure! Don't forget about our 2 for 1 Tuesday’s and 50% off lift tickets for students and Emergency Responders. Come check out our Pure Mtn Fun as we have lots of it going on!
