Over 160 California Schools Adopt New Plant-Based Nutrition Program |

San Rafael, CA...International animal protection organization, In Defense of Animals, is pleased to announce that 166 California schools have joined the campaign for good health through plant-based nutrition program the Daily Scoop, led by Lean and Green Kids. The Daily Scoop features a series of fun, consistent and easy to understand daily nutrition tips for school kids with a strong focus on fruits, vegetables and bean-based protein meals. The tips are included in morning announcements or teachers' opening routines to incorporate nutrition education into daily practice.

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square – the Castle & Cooke California-owned events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – will host its eighth-annual “Copper Chili Cook Off” on Saturday, January 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers are currently seeking cook off competitors for the always-entertaining event. Each team will receive two special gifts and awards will be given in 10 categories. The entrance fee is $20. Guests who wish to taste the chili can do so for $5 (children under 12 are free). All event proceeds will be donated to the Copperopolis Fire Fighters Association.
