San Andreas, CA...Well for those of you who thought the reality show that is the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors might have a calm meeting or two before the drama picked back up you were mistaken. Before they broke for lunch Board Chair, Supervisor Tofanelli & Supervisor Dennis Mills were served recall notices and read a litany of complaints and misdeeds from the perspective of the complainants. We have carved out a few minutes of video that encapsulates the bulk of it.
Board of Supervisors Are Back in Action With A "Special" Cannabis Meeting January 10th

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are back in action on January 10th to conduct a Public Hearing to adopt an Ordinance rescinding Chapter 17.95 and replacing it with a new Chapter 17.95 banning or regulating cannabis cultivation and related commercial activities; certify Environmental Impact Report and adopt Findings of Fact; adopt the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan; or find that adoption of the ordinance is exempt from CEQA pursuant to Sec. 26055(h) of the Business and Professions Code.
Calaveras Supervisors Honor Superintendent of Schools Kathy Northington's 40 Year of Service as an Educator

San Andreas, CA...Retiring Calaveras Superintendent of Education Kathy Northington was honored this morning at the Board of Supervisors Meeting. Kathy attended school at Wallace and Valley Springs elementary schools, graduated from Calaveras High School in 1969 and attended California State University, Sacramento, where she received her bachelor’s degree in child development and her teaching credentials. Kathy returned to Calaveras County as a teacher at Rail Road Flat, Valley Springs and Copperopolis elementary schools from 1977-1987. While teaching she continued her education and received her master’s degree in school administration from the University of San Francisco in 1985.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras Board of Supervisors will be back at work tonight. The following issues are on the agenda. Adopt a Proclamation recognizing the Volunteer Hours of Hunter Reusche. Approve an agreement with Airbnb and authorize the Treasurer-Tax Collector to sign the agreement for the collection and remittance of Transient Occupancy Taxes (TOT) to the County of Calaveras. Adopt a Resolution continuing a Local State of Emergency for the winter storm damage from extreme weather events that began on January 7, 2017 through the month of February 2017. Adopt a Resolution continuing a Local State of Emergency for the removal of hazardous trees caused by the Butte Fire with the imminent threat of severe winter weather. Adopt a Resolution continuing the Local State of Emergency for the Butte Fire. Adopt a Resolution continuing a Local State of Emergency on Tree Mortality. And yes, Conduct a special study session on cannabis cultivation in Calaveras County
Butte Fire Anniversary & Recovery Dominate Supervisors Agenda This Week

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is back in action starting at 9am tomorroW. Some of the agenda items are: Adopt a Proclamation recognizing the County staff providing California HOPE services under the Federal Community Crisis Program (CCP) grant which supports victims of the Butte Fire. Adopt a Proclamation recognizing all first responders, mutual aid, fire districts, community members and organizations, faith based groups, citizens, volunteers, emergency relief organizations, Calaveras county employees and county departments, public utilities and local, state and federal agencies who mobilized to assist citizens and the County during and after the incident. Proclaim September 2016 "Recovery Happens Month" in Calaveras County, with the theme "Join the Voices for Recovery; Our Families, Our Stories, Our Recovery," to celebrate persons in recovery living sober and productive lives.
