CDPH Issues Guidelines on How to Reduce Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy from Cell Phones |

Sacramento, CA...As smartphone use continues to increase in the U.S., especially among children, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today issued guidance for individuals and families who want to decrease their exposure to the radio frequency energy emitted from cell phones. Although the scientific community has not reached a consensus on the risks of cell phone use, research suggests long-term, high use may impact human health.

Executive Summary of Proposed Mark Twain Health Care District & Dignity Health |

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Health Care District (District) and Dignity Health propose to restructure the relationship by which Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) leases its hospital facilities from the District and by which MTMC is governed. The restructuring would establish a new long-term lease between MTMC and the District to: • Maintain the continuity of the health care delivery system in Calaveras County • Ensure community involvement and oversight of the quality of care, medical staff credentialing and privileging, and input on strategic planning and services offered to the community • Enable the District to exchange most of its reversionary interest in MTMC for cash from Dignity Health

San Andreas, CA...Guadalupe “Lupe” Robles has a unique perspective on her role as a Family Nurse Practitioner. “I think of every patient as a puzzle. We look for the right pieces to solve what is wrong with the puzzle.” Guadalupe has recently joined the staff at the San Andreas Family Medical Center after two years at the Valley Springs Family Medical Center. She earned her nursing degree at California State University, Bakersfield, specializing in primary care and concentrating on health care needs in the small, rural towns in that region. “Rural communities have always appealed to me,” she says. “That’s why I am so happy to be working here in Calaveras County.

Arnold, CA...On Thursday, November 30, Dr. Randall Smart, Executive Director of the Mark Twain Health Care District addressed residents of Ebbetts Pass on the state of health care in Calaveras County. Dignity Health’s current contract with the district expires in 2019. The health care district will decide between three options which include remaining with Dignity Health or another affiliate, choosing to operate the hospital independently or with a management-of-services agreement. The district’s decision becomes an election issue in 2018 for the Calaveras registrant. If you missed complete meeting video is below..
