Imaging Advantage Expands Radiology Services at Mark Twain Medical Center |

San Andreas, CA...Imaging Advantage LLC has expanded their radiology services at Mark Twain Medical Center, a Dignity Health hospital, in San Andreas, California. The increased expansion will bring many benefits to Calaveras County including: Improved service, as all cases receive final reads: STATS <30 minutes and routine < 6 hours. Enhanced access to subspecialties such as MSK, Neuro, PET, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography. Improved radiology quality program where at least 2% of all cases are over read. Robust training and education programs and support for the radiologists. Superior operational support to allow radiologists to practice efficiently and focus on delivering outstanding service and quality.

VA Launches Advanced Telehealth Program For Enhanced Services For Veterans in Rural Areas |

Washington, DC...Good morning. I’d like to begin by thanking Secretary David Shulkin for the incredible progress that he’s making at the VA -- tremendous strides. Thank you very much, David. We appreciate it. The veterans appreciate it, I can tell you that. Today, I’m pleased to announce another historic breakthrough that will expand VA services to many more patients and veterans. We will do this through telehealth services. It’s what it’s called -- telehealth services. We’re expanding the ability of veterans to connect with their VA healthcare team from anywhere using mobile application on the veteran’s own phone or the veteran’s own computer. This will significantly expand access to care for our veterans, especially for those who need help in the area of mental health, which is a bigger and bigger request -- and also in suicide prevention. It will make a tremendous difference for the veterans in rural locations in particular.

San Andreas, CA...In honor of the nationally recognized “National Night Out” that happens each year on August 1, Mark Twain Medical Center is taking proactive steps to recognize Calaveras County’s first responders. They are extending their invitation to local emergency personal to invite them to join them for a free breakfast or lunch at Mark Twain Medical Center. We rely on our strong, trusting collaboration with first responders and would like to use National Night Out as an opportunity to thank them for their tireless efforts serving our community.

Upbeat Outlook Helps Arnold Couple Battle Rare Leukemia Into Remission |

Arnold, CA...“Every night, we toast tomorrow,” says Bernie Jackson as she reaches over to pat the hand of her husband Ira. At that moment, he is in the midst of infusion therapy at the Cancer Center at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. Ira has been battling a rare, aggressive form of leukemia for some 10 months. It is now in remission thanks to cutting-edge treatment managed by Cancer Center Director Dr. Shiva Singhal and, thanks also, to his wife’s persistence. Dr. Singhal notes, “Ira is a brave patient and Bernie is a wonderful care giver. It is a very serious situation. He was hospitalized for nearly a week at UC Davis. There have been side effects and visits to the ER on occasion. But they are totally upbeat at all times.”

Creating safe and thriving neighborhoods for our families is not an individual enterprise. It is important to be reminded of how many different agencies work with ordinary citizens to maintain the safety of our communities throughout Calaveras County.

Bear Valley, CA...The 10th Annual Ebbetts Pass Century Ride (EPC) is August 19, 2017 with four route lengths to challenge a variety of cyclists. All rides start and finish in the small alpine village of Bear Valley, California at 7100 ft., and regardless which course you choose, you can expect great scenery, smooth roads, well stocked support stations with good food and some of the best cycling terrain in the country. No wonder our backyard is called the “California Alps”.
