San Andreas, CA... The Stepping Up! for Women’s Health virtual workshop will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. It is easy to register through the MTMC Webpage. Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) is bringing together local physical and mental health experts for a unique, online workshop to discuss women’s issues, available local services and resources which should not be overlooked during the pandemic.

Increase in Amador COVID-19 Cases: Cluster Investigations

Sutter Creek... Amador County Public Health confirms fifteen new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 7 males and 8 females, 5 aged 18-49, 7 aged 50-64, 3 over 65 years of age, 7 residing in Ione, 4 living in Jackson, 2 in Pine Grove, 1 in Pioneer and
1 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City. Two individuals are hospitalized locally.

Calaveras Public Health Reports 1 Death and 3 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas... On Friday, October 23, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed one additional death from COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The individual was a male over the age of 65 who resided in District 1. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 and was unable to recover. The case is linked to an outbreak among residents of Avalon Health Care San Andreas. Avalon infection control staff continue to work closely with Calaveras Public Health to monitor and track any new cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff. HIPAA privacy rules regulate the sharing of protected health information. No additional information will be reported about this individual.

There will be two locations; The Calaveras County Office of Education, 185 South Main Street, Angels Camp, and the Toyon Middle School, on Highway 12 between San Andreas and Valley Springs.

FDA Approves First Treatment for COVID-19

Washington, DC...Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the antiviral drug Veklury (remdesivir) for use in adult and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older and weighing at least 40 kilograms (about 88 pounds) for the treatment of COVID-19 requiring hospitalization. Veklury should only be administered in a hospital or in a healthcare setting capable of providing acute care comparable to inpatient hospital care. Veklury is the first treatment for COVID-19 to receive FDA approval.

Calaveras Public Health Reports 6 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed 6 additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The six additional cases include two females and three males between 50-64 years of age and one male over the age of 65. Four cases reside in District 1. Two cases reside in District 5. There are no new cases reported in the remaining Districts.

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms six new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 3 males and 3 females, 1 child under the age of 18, 1 aged 18-24, 3 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age, 5 residing in Ione, and 1 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City.
