University of Texas Students to Bicycle 4000 miles to Support Cancer Care |

Murphys CA...Texas 4000 Riders to Meet Cancer Patients. The Mark Twain Cancer Center will welcome the Texas 4000 to beautiful downtown Murphys Park on the afternoon of Sunday, June 25th. This peloton of University of Texas student/athletes will pedal the brutal 4000 miles from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to support cancer awareness and prevention. The welcome celebration will include the rider’s sharing tales of their adventure with the audience, and connecting with current oncology patients. Included are a bar-b-que, and music by the LavaCats starting at 3 PM. For information, call the Mark Twain Cancer Center at 209-754-9670.

Arnold, CA...In a great addition to the entire Arnold ares it is exciting to announce that Big Trees Fitness is bringing a full service fitness club back to life in Arnold just in time for summer! You many have seen crews working on the health club facility and they have completed enough repairs and upgrades to open for tours this Saturday & Sunday from 9am to 4pm on Saturday & Sunday this Memorial Day Weekend!! They will open for daily operation on June 1st. The pool is filled and ready for laps, cooling off, pool parties & lounging. The weight room is ready for sets & reps. The racquetball courts are game & tournament ready. The dance floor is ready for fitness classes. The cardio equipment is ready to raise your heart rate and Big Trees Fitness is excited to open their doors.

Sonora, CA...Hospice of the Sierra invites the community for a moment of remembrance at a sunset candle lighting for those who would like to gather with others to light a candle in recognition of the loss of a loved one. The event will be held on Thursday, May 25, at 7 p.m. in the memorial garden at 20100 Cedar Road North in Sonora. This low-cost exam exceeds pre-participation requirements to uncover any problems that can raise the risk of injury or limit performance by providing an all-in-one visit with multiple physician specialists including cardiology, internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics and ENT. Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center’s 21st Annual Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis. All proceeds from the tournament go toward funding Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Project HOPE, a free mobile health clinic serving people in the community who typically do not have health insurance. The clinic is available Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Sonora, except the second Tuesday of each month when it is at Interfaith.
