San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) announces it has recruited Dr. Andrew C. McCoy to San Andreas, where he will provide surgical services for the Tri-County area. Dr. Andrew C. McCoy has joined the San Andreas-based Silver Oak Medical Office (SOMO) with Dr.’s Peter Oliver, Dean Kelaita, Shane Patterson, Sarah Grimes and Physician Assistant Ken Romans. “Dr. McCoy is a welcome addition to the communities growing health care needs,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “MTMC is committed to providing more and more needed services to the residents of Calaveras County and beyond. Dr. McCoy and his family are a great fit with our community and vision for Calaveras County.”

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center has been on a roll. Patient counts are way up. MTMC is well down the path to recruit and bring 30 new physicians to the area. There have been new services, new equipment added, Medical offices spruced up and more. On August 27th, they held a meet and greet allow existing and new patients to get to know their providers outside of an office visit. Refreshments and Hors d'Oeuvres were served, offices available for tours and more....

Tuolumne County, CA...September is National Suicide Prevention Month and local suicide prevention groups will be raising awareness through events and suicide prevention campaigns. On September 2nd, The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will be asked to make a proclamation recognizing September 8 – 14, 2014 as Suicide Prevention Week....

Atlanta, GA...Dr. Kent Brantly, the Samaritan’s Purse doctor who contracted Ebola while caring for patients in Liberia, was released from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta today after completing his recovery from the deadly virus. “Today is a miraculous day,” Dr. Brantly said at a news conference at the hospital. “I am thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family. … Above all, I am forever thankful to God for sparing my life and am glad for any attention my sickness has attracted for the plight of West Africa in the midst of this epidemic.”
Dr. Kent Brantly ran out of the isolation area giving high fives to his treatment team who had lined the halls.
