Posted by: thepinetree on 05/18/2017 12:55 PM
Murphys, CA...Ever been to a hospital? Apparently, not President Trump. How else to explain his apology for not initially getting a "repeal and replace" bill through Congress, by incredulously asking of healthcare, "who knew it was so complicated?"

Sickness Unto Death: An American Dilemma. Part One ~ By John MacWillie, Ph.D.

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/10/2017 12:41 PM
Murphys, CA...Introduction: The United States is alone among industrialized nations in using wealth as a gatekeeper for access to health care. The wealthier you are, the more and better health care you get. The national debate that is now taking place focuses on whether every individual, irrespective of their income, should have access to great health care.

Salk Research Points to “Exercise-in-a-pill” Boosting Athletic Endurance by 70 Percent

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/05/2017 09:57 PM
La Jolla, CA...Every week, there seems to be another story about the health benefits of running. That’s great—but what if you can’t run? For the elderly, obese or otherwise mobility-limited, the rewards of aerobic exercise have long been out of reach. Salk Institute scientists, building on earlier work that identified a gene pathway triggered by running, have discovered how to fully activate that pathway in sedentary mice with a chemical compound, mimicking the beneficial effects of exercise, including increased fat burning and stamina. The study, which appears in Cell Metabolism on May 2, 2017, not only deepens our understanding of aerobic endurance, but also offers people with heart conditions, pulmonary disease, type 2 diabetes or other health limitations the hope of achieving its benefits pharmacologically.
