Huge Crowd At Tree Mortality Meeting. No Quick Fixes & Lots Of Work Ahead. |
Posted by: thepinetree on 08/15/2016 12:48 PM
|
Avery, CA...The Avery Middle School Gym was filled to overflowing on Saturday with community members, government representatives, and private companies concerned about tree mortality in our area. The cliff note version...The problem is huge and it may get worse before it gets better. The main culprits are beetles, drought & overcrowded forests. If standing dead trees on your property could impact utility lines, roadways or could cause an issue to the public there is probably help available to remove them. If standing dead trees on Stanislaus National Forest Lands could impact your your home there are probably ways to get them removed.

CCWD Has Spent 70 Years Preparing For Drought ~ Guest Opinion Part One By Terry Strange |
Posted by: thepinetree on 08/12/2016 01:44 PM
|
San Andreas, CA...Of the many natural resources found in Calaveras County, water is arguably the most valuable, and protecting access to the water that originates here is critical to the county’s future. This has long been recognized by the Calaveras County Water District, which has been a faithful steward of the county’s greatest asset for the past 70 years. Thankfully, the people of Calaveras County have consistently supported these efforts. Like the county, the District has grown over those decades and as of July 2016, it supplies water to about 21,000 people, local businesses, agriculture and other beneficial uses. It also provides about 11,500 people with wastewater service, and the vast majority of treated water is recycled and put to beneficial use, such as golf course irrigation.

And that’s why, even with our own drought-resilient water supply, the Calaveras County Water District is not letting its guard down when it comes to conservation.
