Federal Reserve to Inject Additional $600 Billion Into Economy According to Federal Reserve Statement

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/03/2010 01:25 PM
Washington, DC...Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in September confirms that the pace of recovery in output and employment continues to be slow. Household spending is increasing gradually, but remains constrained by high unemployment, modest income growth, lower housing wealth, and tight credit. Business spending on equipment and software is rising, though less rapidly than earlier in the year, while investment in nonresidential structures continues to be weak. Employers remain reluctant to add to payrolls. Housing starts continue to be depressed. Longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable, but measures of underlying inflation have trended lower in recent quarters...

Weekly Market Update Week of October 25, 2010 ~by Donna M. Stevenson of Pacific West Financial Group

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/26/2010 12:41 PM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: What is the G-20? What is a currency war? And what does any of this have to do with my money? If you’ve been asking yourself these questions, you’re not alone. The relationships that exist between global currencies and the officials who control monetary policy have been a regular feature in recent headlines. Why? Currency values affect international trade. When the value of a nation’s currency is low, it encourages countries with higher valued currency to spend money there because their exports are “cheaper” so to speak...

Big Macs By Halloween....One of the Fastest McDonalds Builds Ever ~By John Hamilton

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2010 08:55 AM
Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes talking with Dennis Graspointner who is the President of the ownership group for the new McDonalds in Angels Camp. He had great things to say about how the City of Angels Camp has treated them and made sure that inspections and other details have been handled quickly and smoothly. City Development Director, David Hanham has also been on site helping them make adjustments as the project has developed. An example of this is the outside patio seating recently added to the plans for the front of the building...

Weekly Market Update Week of October 18, 2010 by Donna M. Stevenson of Pacific West Financial Group

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 10/18/2010 04:26 PM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: Fortune magazine showcased a headline on Friday that read, “Who can magically fix the economy?” A picture of a magician pulling a skunk out of Uncle Sam’s hat was comically pictured below. The article went on to read: “There is nothing that the U.S. government or the Federal Reserve or tax cutters can do to make our economic pain vanish overnight. There are no all-powerful, all-knowing superheroes or supervillains who can rescue or tank the economy all by themselves.”1 Do you agree with the quote above? We do. The simple truth is, no one has a magic wand. Some politicians peacock as if they do. Some analysts would have you think they do. But as a nation, we’ve suffered a huge financial setback. Home values – investment accounts – jobs – all

The Mudder of All Interviews....A Chat and a Zip Line with Tough Mudder Founders, Will Dean & Guy Livingstone and the Tough Mudder Team!~With John Hamilton on Zipline

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/14/2010 10:58 AM
Vallecito, CA..The Tough Mudder Team did a bit of local adventuring before they jetted back to “Tough Mudder” headquarters Tuesday afternoon. Cave and Mine Adventures invited them to a Zip Line Adventure. We thought we would tag along camera in tow to see if the Tough Mudder's were tough enough to Zip Line without a whimper or cry. (I barely made the weight limit, and the friendly cave staff warned me not to trim and trees with my legs!) The Team easily measured up to the test with smiles on their faces. After the Zipping we had the chance to spend a few minutes talking with the Tough Mudder founders Will Dean and Guy Livingstone. It's a fascinating story as Will Dean really is a Tough Mudder as he was a counter terrorism expert for the British Military...

Weekly Market Update Week of October 4, 2010 SPECIAL EDITION – 3Q CLOSE & FLASH CRASH REPORT ~ Donna M. Stevenson

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/08/2010 11:54 AM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: Thursday marked the end of a quarter and the end of a month. Both turned out to be favorable for equity markets. Although September is historically one of the slowest months of the year, this September wasn’t slow at all. Last week’s slight drop followed four straight weeks of gains that allowed the month to go down as the strongest September since the days of World War II – 1939 to be exact. For the month, the S&P gained 8.8%, the Dow rose 7.72%, and the Nasdaq advanced 12.04%. For the quarter, the S&P gained 10.7%, the Dow added 10.4%, and the Nasdaq rose 12.3%, even as the U.S. economic recovery remained tepid...
