Murphys, CA...The terms of two of the three Trustees of the Murphys Cemetery District Board will expire 12/31/09. Anyone interested in applying for an appointment to one of these positions should obtain an application from the Elections Coordinator in the Calaveras County Recorder's office.

Murphys Business Association Gets Ready for Christmas

Murphys, CA...On Wednesday afternoon members of the Murphys Business Association were out in force trimming a gorgeous tree from Kautz Vineyards that is the official Murphys Christmas Tree for 2009. The stately tree resides at the corner of Main and Jones and will officially be unveiled during the Murphys Open House tonight. The MBA has done a wonderful job over the years helping Murphys and Calaveras County become one of the up and coming tourist draws in the state...

ACBA has "Decked The Halls" Again This Year With Oover 200 Christmas Boughs!

Angels Camp, CA...You may have noticed if you have traveled through Angels Camp the last few days that it is looking rather festive. The Angels Camp Business Association President Bob Menary stated at the City Council Meeting that ACBA made over 200 Holiday Boughs again this year. The Boughs were hung all the way from the Middleton's Mark Twain Shopping Center through downtown. Also coming up this weekend is the Angels Camp Christmas Parade. The parade will start 11am at Bret Harte High School and continue through downtown. After the parade Santa Will be at The Calaveras Visitors Bureau....

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Michnowska will be treating the adolescent through geriatric population for the full spectrum of primary care concerns. “My interests are a perfect fit for the rural communities of Calaveras County” said Dr. Michnowska. “The demographics of the area and the medical needs are inter-related. When MyValleySprings.com formed in 2005, founding members set up an Internet website to educate the public about the importance of land use planning, community design, and to encourage public participation in the community planning process. For four years, the website has provided planning and development information, updates, resources, links to related sites, opinion pieces, meeting notices, and calls to action. Angels Camp Approves $2 Million "Fourth Filter"...But They May Not Need It. ~By John Hamilton

Angels Camp, CA...One of the central items of last night's Angels Camp City Council was the "Fourth Filter" and was it needed to keep the City in Compliance with the water regulatory agencies. The Council approved to go forward with the project on a 4-1 vote with a caveat that they hope they won't be forced to install it. The City was recently cited for exceeding capacity for a few days in 2007 and also 2008. The discussion centered around what was the best way to solve the deficiencies. Mayor Jack Lynch was adamant that the problem has already been solved through the $700k main water line repair completed a few months ago....

$19,000 in grants awarded by Calaveras Community Foundation

Angels Camp, CA...Ten local groups have been awarded a total of $19,000 in the first round of 2009 funding by the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF). The funds will be used for programs focusing on music, youth, adult tutoring, seniors, educational needs and food pantries....
