Murphys, CA....Calaveras County haeld the pleasure of holding a "Listening Session" with Dan Lungren last week. This event was held at Ironstone Vineyards and hosted by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance. Congressman Lungren has accepted a position on the Congressional Wine Caucus. This was an opportunity to speak with the Congressman. The session was open to the public and everyone was welcome. There was a wide range of business centric topics discussed. ANGELS CAMP, CA – March 22, 2011 – The California Department of Water Resources (CDWR) is reporting an above average snowpack in the Sierra which has river outfitter O.A.R.S. getting ready for an exciting, extended season of thrill-stacked whitewater rafting. This year’s snowpack is expected to produce higher water levels, faster flows, bigger rapids, and a longer-than-average California rafting season. The Tuolumne River’s late May and early June season is expected to provide the highest flows of the year, and some of the most exciting whitewater rafting conditions in California’s recent history...

Calaveras Visitors Bureau Now Using QR Technology to Market Calaveras!

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau has just launched the use of innovative QR code (Quick Response code) technology for marketing Calaveras County to the users of Smartphones, sophisticated mobile devices. A QR code is a two-dimensional matrix bar code with a “hidden message” that identifies products. Customers and potential customers are directed to a message by scanning and photographing QR codes with their Smartphones. This allows businesses to educate and entice customers with special offers, discounts or other information they want to communicate. Through the CVB’s QR codes, visitors can immediately be linked to the CVB’s website or can be led to a landing page with a specific message to that user.....

February Federal Budget Deficit $223 Billion According to CBO

Washington, DC...CBO estimates that the federal government incurred a budget deficit of $642 billion for the first five months of fiscal year 2011, $10 billion less than the shortfall recorded in the same period last year. Outlays were $58 billion higher than in the previous year, while revenues were $68 billion higher....
